RE: Sam’s Hangout #103 - “INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY”

Celebrating International Women’s Day

I am happy this celebration formed a topic for discussion, so permit me to rant a little bit. Women and children have always been seen as and believed to be the “weaker” vessels. No wonder their voice seems not to matter, and sometimes, when they react to making it matter, they are misunderstood.

Women were created as a support system from the day they were born; unfortunately, events changed the narrative, and today, many women are breadwinners in their families. To complicate the matter, those who were supposed to applaud them for taking care of their responsibilities became torn in their flesh, turning them into a barrage of anger venting bags, punching bags, and all sorts.

Furthermore, the inflation and the state of the country did not help matters. While some women decently Japa for greener pastures, so many, in defiance and resistance to a situation that is turning their minds gaga, some walked away from the many troubles to find peace elsewhere, leading to an unimaginable rate of divorces, single parents, and all have you.
In the midst of this whole bruhaha came International Women’s Day. This is supposed to create awareness about the girl child and women in general, focusing on how to celebrate their strength and give them a voice in the midst of the chaos and unimaginable things happening to them.

But the truth is that a lot is still going on; women are still not getting a fair share in politics, government roles, and other areas. Some of them still face harassment at all levels of business and entrepreneurship. Some of us are aware of what is currently going on in different political and business domains regarding women being intimidated, harassed,
Well, some will say, she brought it upon herself, but let us be considerate when judging. Women go through a lot in the human life cycle, adulthood, and motherhood
Way forward
We need to do better, starting from our home fronts, the community, society, and the world at large. Give the women a free, fair, and maybe an equal opportunity to thrive and continue to stay alive.
I so submit.
