What I Saw on a Four-Hour Road

It was not my first time traveling, but it had been a while since I embarked on the type of interstate journey that I embarked on yesterday using a commercial bus from the car park in my state.

The journey was meant to be like a three-hour journey, but it ended up being a four-hour journey, which felt very long. There was no traffic, but there was a small delay because one of the loads got loose along the way, and the driver and I had to get down to retie it because I was sitting in the front with him.

Maybe because I sat at the front, I had to experience almost everything on the road, where I noticed all the six police check points, an army check point and like two road safety check points too. I noticed nothing special about all these check points because everything was all the same.

They all slowed us down and collected money from the driver except for, like, two that the driver reduced to give money. They did not do their job but just received the money the driver stretched out to them.

Most of us take this complaint to our X account, but nobody voiced out because we want no delay and want to get home safe.

Even though I sat in the front, I felt very tired seeing everything happen. Looking at the faces of these road side police men in uniform I can see stress and hunger.

They are not meant to be doing that, which makes it totally wrong in my face because these policemen are meant to be trusted on duty, but they are doing otherwise.

What I experienced reminded me that just because someone is in uniform does not mean that they are a changed person or saints and that change is a personal development. Until we change and become brave enough to speak up, our system will continue to remain broken.
