i don't really see anything performative about it bro, i feel it would make more sense if more awareness about the girl child is made on this day, say sex education, self awareness, campaign for hygiene ...more of these will make meaning instead of just going off to social media #IWD cause that's all i see

Like I said, it's performative to some extent. At least from a personal point of view, cause at the end of the day most of what we see is just posts, tweets and various hashtags....
