Man you sure can eat!
Do you often hunt game in the wilds?
I have to say bread baking is very fun, and with a proper good oven set up, even with a dutch oven on coal beds, one can make some proper nice biscuits and shortbreads out in the field. I want to try baking some biscuits whilst wild camping. That would be ace!
You don't drink soups? Soups (not stew) is a staple in the Cantonese culture. We often have a pot of chicken/beef/pork bone broth on the boil at the stove. Put some cabbages, carrots, tomatos, slow cook as you do, and you have some ace liquid nourishment that fills up them big boy shoes.
Beans eh?
I hunt in the fall. There are some earlier hunting seasons, but I don't hunt bear, and never learned to hunt turkeys, and the rest is in the fall. When I was a kid, soup came out of cans and I never liked it much. Too salty. I drink the boiled milk and butter off the veggies and meat, and that's about as close to soup as I make. I used to make stews, but I just boil the veggies with meat now. It's simple and good.
I do enjoy cooking over a fire. Corn on the cob smoked over alder in the husk, slathered in butter with a sprinkle of red chili peppers is very good. If I had all my teeth I'd eat it more, or eat more of it when I do.
