I haven't read this before. But it looked quite beautiful on the shelf and I do plan to read these as well. Is the trilogy you speak of interesting?

Interesting is the right word: multiverse, souls that live outside their bodies as animals, humans wanting to destroy god, a truth telling device for the few that can read them, magic, great characters, great endings for the important ones
The first book, however, is not a fast read; rather it has a medium speed and ease
