Not coast here, but mountains. The valley is quite wide, so it's not super-hard-core, but I'm the slope of the mountain. And the difference in temperature between 4000m and 2000m alone makes for a good wind, adding the difference between a night with no clouds and a full sun day... Physics can bite hard.

Yeah, that makes sense. I saw a fact about the Rocky mountains a while ago that for every 1000 feet you go up the temperature changes 3.6 degrees.
