Obsidian braced herself, channeling her amplification powers into her apprentice. He screamed out as his flesh became rocks, absorbing his features, his clothes, and even all the kainestones within the mine directly into him. With a roar his transformation was complete. He nearly took up the entire cavernous space, his body thick and tall. Glowing red shone out from the cracks in his new rock form, emitting a heat that made Fiafia’s eyes water.  —From Defenders, an entry in the Tome of CHAOS
