We drove home to the lil kingdom on Friday. Along the way, we passed by some landslides, most were small, and a few large ones like that in the photo below. The heavy and continuous rain of the previous week made the hill erode. Thankfully, it was far from the residential area so no one was hurt and the road was wide so motorists were not affected either.
Other parts of town and most highways in the Cordillera region including the major ones, like that of the Kennon Road connecting the city to other places were closed to traffic for hours due to the danger posed by falling rocks and debris.
The famous Strawberry Farms in La Trinidad were submerged in flood water. Metro Manila and other places like Cavite were declared in a state of calamity due to flooding caused by the heavy rains brought by the typhoon. It was heartbreaking to watch the news, people wading through knee-deep flood with their dogs and children, etc.
Such are natural occurrences in our region and country during the wet and typhoon season. Our region is mountainous so soil erosion and landslides are inevitable. Valleys and low-lying areas are prone to flooding which forces people to evacuate.
Things are a little better on our side of town, apart from landslides and fallen trees, no one has been reported hurt thankfully. Carina has already left and the weather has improved in the last two days. Although there is a report of monsoon rains and other weather disturbances, hopefully, they will not bring as heavy rainfall as the previous one.
Meanwhile, we are busy taking some precautionary measures in our own yard like clearing out drainage areas and securing roofing and stuff. It's the typhoon months (June to November) and we can never be complacent. I believe people in other places are doing the same.
Happy new week, everyone! I wish you safety and good health wherever you are!

This is so sad, I can only imagine the number of properties lost and also how it has made some people homeless too π
So it's going to be like this till November? Wow! Please stay safe. I wish you and your family good health.
I hope there were no damaged properties this time. Yes, the rainy season here is between June and November. Storms can be plenty, some harmless and others devastating. Hoping there won't be any destructive ones this year.
Thank you for your good wishes.

I hope so tooπ
It is sad talaga na Carina affected a lot of places, and not just in the Philippines but also in other country. Nakakatakot, sa totoo lang coz meron pa daw dalwa na paratingin. Sana lang di na kalala katulad nong kay Carina, aigooo. And glad that you are all safe. Yon lang ang mahalagang important sa ngayon.
Oo nga. Sana hindi dito dadaan yung next na bagyo. Kawawa din yung mga nasiraan ng properties. Pero yes, ang mahalaga, safe ang mga tao.
It's better to hope that there would no longer be storms, rather than just hoping that the next storm would not pass through your location. π€π§π€

It means a lot of things happened in you and your nearby place. I missed your other post because of an internet blackout in my county and wasn't able to know about those incidents. In fact, at the current time, the speed is very slow.
Thankfully you are safe.

Yes, we now live in another town. It's been rainy for over a week, I lost count of the days, lol! But we are safe and sound. I hope your internet will improve and that you are okay too,

The typhoon season is truly a bother.
Although my rains aren't as destructive as a typhoon, a poorly drained area could quickly turn to a decent swamp or river after a good 2-3 days of rain.
The worst flood I think Nigeria has seen was the flooding of Bayelsa two years ago.
Water swallowing houses...
80% of the state was underwater for a few months...
Oh my, that's truly a disaster. I hope none of that will happen again. We experience typhoons every year and still cannot get used to it.
Ingat po.
I guess the rain was very crazy since some places were declared flooded and so on
Itβs just so sad that a lot of people got sffected
Stay safe!

Yes, the rain was heavy for days that's why there was flooding in some places.
Thank you !LADY
Buti na Lang SA Amin kahit mountainous din Hindi gumaganyan sis. Matigas Kasi lupa duon. Pero SA ibang part ganyan din. Pero buti at walang nasaktanπ.
Thankfully, no body was hurt.
Natural disasters is always a pain in the ass. Some business lose their funds at times.
Come to think of it, I do not have first hand experience with flooding.
I guess I will want to see what it is like, when it happens.
Yes. It will be terrible if people get hurt.
I haven't been in an area while it was flooded but I would not wish to experience it. Imagine things floating, properties being submerged, etc.
its a terrible thing.
Though nature gave us lots of goodies, it's disasters are really terrible.
I'm glad that nobody is hurt.
Natural disasters are so sad to see CJ and I hope you guys are all safe.
I hope the strawberry fields recover.
All these disasters becoming more and more frequent and getting worse and worse and yet still we don't enough as a species to stop climate change.
Truly, Tito Ed. We only wish they never happen but they do, and getting worse each year. It makes me wonder how things would be decades from now. It's scary to think about it.
It's not easy dealing with such frequent natural disasters. Stay safe and take care during the typhoon season FG !PIZZA
That's true, we can never get used to such even when they occur every year. Thank you, RM. We are good.
you're always welcome dearest FG !WINE
