The old book/show conflict :)
I've decided the book and the show should be judged independently. The writing for the two mediums is essentially different. So I ask myself, did the book work? Did the movie work? That's it. I try not to compare.
Sounds like a good show and I do very much enjoy that actress. So, maybe I'll give it a go.

In this case you definitely had to do that. Typically the book is so much better than the show, but in this case the two were so far removed from each other I don't even think you could stand them side by side. There were maybe four characters that the two had in common, but even then they had totally different arcs than in the book.
