I would rather say that the marriage institution has been modernised from what it ought to be. Marriage qqs supposed to be an agreement between two people who will love and keep learning to live each other.
Having to sign a prenup is an addendum to the whole ceremony and to make the two parties have a safe haven in time of eventuality.
