That is a gorgeous red-spotted purple butterfly (Limenitis arthemis astyanax)! Yes I didn't recognise it, so had to Google Lens it. What a great walk. The bench reminded me of the series on tiktok all about the best view from a bench. And cracking food too! You really can't beat being out in nature getting fresh air.
