It varies... if on the cloud is one thing... if in your house (initially more)... but can depend on whom has already around his/her house.

I would say that in 2 years... I have spent around 2k NZD to deploy a mixed number of hardware and some for personal interest. And from the witness payments, I have recovered all of that. With more to (now) be invested into new gear.

On the cloud, anyone can start very light... with anything that has 2 to 4 cores, 16 GB RAM and 0.6-1TB of storage (SSD minimum, but NVMe desired). Hive-Engine uses mongo... so, memory quantity is a necessary thing (not much though), but IOps are! The more IOps you have the less you will need memory. (in some sense). Depends on how many calls one has into its node.
