we really need to prepare children for real life rather than having them sit in classrooms all day, I totally agree that extra work after school gives children something useful that they will need later on because in my opinion people who only do the bare minimum in life don't usually get very far or it just takes triple the effort, homework teaches children to keep going even when they don't feel like it, which is probably the most important thing they need for life

This is an excellent way of showing that just the basics are not enough, and we need to push ourselves more and more. The world is competitive, and we need to go beyond the basics.
