Artificial Intelligence in Our Age

Artificial intelligence in our age has been an effective tool in organizations and even in our personal lives. It has simplified many tasks that we used to stress ourselves over, and that's the beauty of it. It is now widely used and applied in many fields, and the end result is always marvellous.

Some people only focus on the usefulness of artificial intelligence in computer-based sectors, but that's not all. Artificial intelligence is a computer-based instrument, but it has grown to be applied in all fields such as the medical field for diagnosis, agriculture, music, and also in sports. I'm a fan of sports, and I know how AI cameras are now used in sports to detect a lot of things that were normally hidden or were difficult to detect before.

For our personal use, we can all see how easy it is to use AI to generate photos of ourselves in different forms. Some years ago, photo beautification was a big trend in Nigeria, where everyone was into beautifying their photos through AI-oriented apps. I was not left out; I also did some photo beautification too. We can also see how easy it is now to get very precise and unique photos for our articles, unlike before when we relied on free photo sites where there was a high possibility that someone else had already used the same photo.

What Is the Downside of AI?

They say that everything that has an advantage must also have a disadvantage, and that's a true fact.

Artificial intelligence is very good, but it has its downside too, and that downside lies in the abuse of its usage. Artificial intelligence is computer-based, and it still requires human operation and supervision. After we've generated whatever we want to generate or applied it wherever needed, it is expected of humans to check through and find possible errors. But these days, people hardly bother to do so. We just believe that artificial intelligence is smart enough to make everything correct and perfect.

That’s the abuse I’m referring to—being too dependent on it. This is why, after the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) checks for an error in a football match, it is still left to the human (referee) to either credit or discard the findings.

It's indeed crucial to strike a balance between AI-driven automation and human judgment. Over-reliance on AI can lead to errors, and human oversight is essential to ensure accuracy and fairness. Thanks for highlighting this important aspect of AI

This is really a valid point
Even when AI is best at it job it still needs human supervision
