Advice to the newbies

I have only been here for 8 months, and I think I have gained some experiences that I can use to guide the newbies who just joined us.

One of the things I will say to the newbies is to stay consistent in blogging here because that's one of the major selling points.

For a newbie who probably just joined, they may expect to start earning hugely from the start and may even go ahead to neglect the advice of their onboarder regarding instructions like "Do not expect payment for now," "Be consistent first," and others. I got this admonition when I joined, but I was swayed when I wrote my first set of articles and didn’t get any votes.

Feeling discouraged is normal as a human, especially when we have high hopes for something and it ends up failing. But there's a point where, as humans, we have the ability to push through even in the midst of discouragement.

I will advise any newbie to stay committed to continuous posting, reading, interacting, and voting.

Like I have mentioned many times, when I joined, I wasn’t active. I was counting the days just to make posts, maybe once a week. That was due to the fact that I was discouraged because my first set of posts didn’t yield anything. I felt that all that was said to me by my onboarder about how this website works was all lies. Perhaps, I thought, the payments only go to the well-known people on the site.

It got to a point where I had to retrace my steps, reschedule my plans, and began to write daily. That was the moment I started to get the little upvotes I’ve been receiving recently. I’m sure that if I hadn’t become serious with consistency in blogging, I would still be counting days before posting, or probably would have stopped altogether.

Still on the topic of consistency, a newbie should also interact with people. I have been lagging a lot in this aspect due to how tight my days are, but I would encourage any newbie to be intentional about interacting with others as they stay consistent in making posts.
