How 1 Decision Changed My Life: DAE to DHMS? [Eng/Urdu]

From electrical circuits in 2016 to homeopathy today, 2020 changed my path. Here is how & why I switched from engineering to became a doctor.

No matter how much a person plans about life, destiny always makes its own way. Life is not the name of walking on a straight line. But, it is a beautiful collection of different turns and new experiences. We often choose one path, but circumstances take us to another surprising destination. Today, I am sharing an informative journey of my educational life. This story is a true and touching tale of my personal efforts, parents' prayers, and sudden changes.

This memorable journey of mine begins in the year 2016. When I passed my matriculation exams with good marks. At that time, many paths were open in front of me to build my future. Some old friends were taking admission in FSc Pre-Engineering. While some went towards some other fields. I myself was not understanding which specific field would bbeneficial to make my future in ahead. At this important turn, my respected mother gave me very valuable advice to get technical education.

She lovingly explained that a technical skill never leaves a person unemployed, and always gives a respectable livelihood. On this sincere advice of my mother, I chose the DAE Electrical field without any hesitation. Then, after three years of continuous hard work, I completed my diploma in a wonderful manner in the year 2019. As soon as the diploma was completed, I had no mood or intention at all to continue further regular studies. Therefore, I formally started teaching incoming junior students inside the same technical college.

However, in early 2020, the global pandemic of Corona arrived, and Pakistan shut down along with the entire world. Due to the sudden strict lockdown, all educational institutions closed down. I had to leave my teaching job unwillingly. Life suddenly became stuck in a deep halt, and no clear or bright path was visible ahead. In such a difficult time, my elder brother gave me great encouragement and showed a new path. On his advice, I took admission in DHMS and stepped into the world of homeopathy.

What is DAE?

DAE actually stands for "Diploma of Associate Engineer." DAE is an authentic and solid certificate of technical education. It is a three-year practical and theoretical technical program that begins after matriculation in science. The fundamental goal of this important program is to teach students workshop and machine skills. In Pakistan, this course is regularly conducted under provincial technical education boards like the Punjab Board of Technical Education. This diploma is considered equivalent to the Higher Secondary School Certificate, which means FSc Pre-Engineering, across Pakistan.

DAE started in Pakistan during the 1950s to overcome the acute shortage of technical workforce. The first polytechnic institutes were set up in Karachi and Rawalpindi so that the industrial sector of the country could get a sustainable workforce. In the 1970s, proper technical education boards were established so this complete system could run under a legal framework. The primary role of an Associate Engineer is a strong bridge between an ordinary skilled worker and a degree-holding engineer.

In this diploma, instead of rote learning, students are made to do practicals inside factories, live workshops, and modern laboratories. During the three years, students pass tough examinations in basic physics, applied mathematics, and engineering workshop practice. Operating workshop tools, wiring systems, and industrial machinery used inside factories is the main core of this complete course. This is the reason why a DAE holder youth possesses far more practical ability than a conventional college student.

The structure of this three-year educational system is divided step-by-step as follows:

• First Year (Basic Foundation): In this, electrical wiring methods, basic electronics, and applied mathematics are taught.
• Second Year (Intermediate Core): In this, AC machines, electrical measuring instruments, and power generation are taught.
• Third Year (Advanced Industrial): In this, switchgear, substations, industrial motors, and heavy control systems are taught.

Electrical technology is always considered the most popular, attractive, and in-demand field among all branches of this diploma. The basic reason is that no small or big factory or modern building in the world runs without electricity. Every manufacturing unit, textile mill, power station, and process industry always has an urgent need for expert electrical technicians. Even in general commercial plazas and modern housing schemes, the future of talented electrical associate engineers is bright.

Experience of DAE Electrical and Teaching

In the year 2016, when I stepped into the polytechnic college, the atmosphere around me looked completely changed. Holding multimeters, wires, screwdrivers, and panel wiring diagrams along with general books in hands was a completely fresh experience. I learned electrical circuits, heavy transformers, single-phase, and three-phase induction motor connections by making them myself. Doing coil winding of transformers and assembling high-voltage switchgear panels amidst the noise of the workshop was my favorite activity.

Every practical class of the college became a fresh scientific lesson and the best memorable way to polish technical thinking for me. After three years of tireless hard work, written exams, and completing final projects, I received my diploma in 2019. As soon as I passed the diploma, I was passionate to work in the field, so I did not think of studying further right away. I wanted to apply my learned technical skills practically on the ground at that very moment.

The college administration and all respected teachers were already quite satisfied with my practical skills and teaching ability. They lovingly advised me to start teaching electrical practicals to juniors in my own institute. Therefore, in late 2019, I formally started serving as a technical instructor in the same college. Standing in front of students in the lab for the first time and explaining multimeter connections was a prestigious experience.

I used to teach industrial motor control and circuit protection principles to young students in very simple and plain Urdu. All students liked my friendly teaching style immensely because I resolved difficult confusions right away. Standing in the lab from morning to afternoon and tracing various wiring faults became my interesting daily duty. I felt that my career was now completely set in technical teaching and the electrical field.

The Global Crisis of 2020 and Coronavirus

While life was running smoothly with its specific routine, circumstances suddenly took a difficult turn. In the early days of 2020, the destructive epidemic of Coronavirus spread with full intensity across the globe. Soon, an emergency-like situation developed across Pakistan, and the government announced the enforcement of a complete lockdown.

Due to this sudden and harsh decision, all schools, polytechnic colleges, public transport, and markets closed down completely. Our technical college also closed because teaching electrical wiring and machine practicals online was an impossible task. It became extremely difficult for private college management to manage the monthly expenses of teachers for such a long period without fees.

With a very heavy heart, I had to leave my favorite teaching job and had to stay confined to a single room of the house. I had to spend several months sitting at home continuously, due to which severe mental stress and suffocation kept increasing. Seeing constant uncertainty and financial closures, it felt as if all bright doors of the future had closed down now. I could not understand which direction the everyday life of youth would go after this global crisis.

During those toughest and darkest days, my elder brother understood my complete situation and gave solid guidance. He clearly explained to me to enter a field whose need never ends, without wasting time now. He argued that human health and medical practice is such a sacred field that will always exist in the world. On the strong insistence and guidance of my brother, I finally took formal admission in the DHMS course.

What is DHMS?

DHMS actually stands for "Diploma in Homeopathic Medical System," which is a recognized medical course in Pakistan. This complete educational syllabus takes place under the strict rules of the National Council for Homeopathy under the supervision of the Federal Ministry of Health. NCH Islamabad is the authorized body to conduct examinations and award diplomas to homeopathic medical colleges present across Pakistan. After completing four years of regular study, it is compulsory for every student to complete a six-month clinical house job.

After the successful completion of the house job, the Council issues a valid registration number and a legal practice license to every graduate. Based on this legal license, a homeopathic doctor gets permission to run their private clinic across Pakistan. Due to this legal protection, a qualified homeopath can examine patients and prescribe curative medicines formally to them. To take fresh admission in this medical program, having Matric Science or FSc with Biology is a fundamental condition.

The curriculum of this four-year medical program is taught step-by-step each year as follows:

• First Year: Basic scientific concepts of Human Anatomy, Human Physiology, and Homeopathic Philosophy are taught.
• Second Year: A detailed study of Pathology, Community Medicine, Materia Medica, and Organon of Medicine is conducted.
• Third Year: Materia Medica, basic Surgery, Gynecology, and clinical diagnostic methods are formally taught.
• Fourth Year: Deep training in Practice of Medicine, Materia Medica, and clinical case taking is provided.

The homeopathic field in Pakistan was granted complete legal protection under the Unani, Ayurvedic, and Homeopathic Practitioners Act of 1965. The implementation of this Federal Act placed a strict legal ban on unqualified quacks opening clinics. Under this historic law in Pakistan, the homeopathic mode of treatment was recognized as a formal medical system at the national level. This stable system helped homeopathic doctors gain respect, dignity, and legal status in society throughout the country.

Homeopathy and Its Fundamental Principles

Homeopathy is a purely scientific and human-body-compatible mode of treatment that started in Germany in 1796. The founder of this natural system was Dr. Samuel Hahnemann, who was himself an eminent allopathic doctor and chemist of that era. He was deeply dissatisfied with the painful methods of that old era, such as forceful bloodletting and treatments with hazardous chemicals. He ate the bark of Cinchona himself and proved that it produces symptoms similar to malarial fever in a healthy body.

From there, he derived that timeless law of treatment which was given the Latin name "Similia Similibus Curentur." The simple meaning of this golden rule is "Like cures like," meaning the medicine that produces symptoms like a disease cures that same disease. The medicine that brings specific symptoms in a healthy person relieves a sick person from that disease. Dr. Samuel Hahnemann recorded this brilliant, revolutionary medical philosophy of his in his masterpiece book "Organon of Medicine."

The seven golden principles of homeopathic science on which the whole treatment system stands:

• Law of Similia: According to this natural principle, like is always treated with a like medicine.
• Law of Simplex: Only a single, simple medicine should be given inside a patient at one time.
• Law of Minimum Dose: The more subtle and smaller the quantity of medicine, the deeper the action will be.
• Doctrine of Drug Proving: The real effects and symptoms of medicine are first tested on healthy human beings.
• Theory of Chronic Diseases: Hereditary miasmatic poisons are actually the root cause of all chronic diseases in the world.
• Theory of Vital Force: There is a proper internal energy and life force system running the human body.
• Law of Potentization: By shaking and diluting medicine repeatedly, its hidden dynamic power is awakened.

The second most important principle of homeopathy is that the patient should be given the lowest quantity of medicine, meaning the "Minimum Dose." In this system, natural substances are systematically potentized and diluted in an extremely fine scientific manner. The process of potentization crushes the toxic effects of matter and awakens the energy and curative ability hidden inside it. Due to this very scientific process, homeopathic medicines leave no dangerous side effects on the sensitive system of the human body.

The third important point is that homeopathy never treats by isolating any single organ of the body. It considers the patient as a complete living unit and proceeds by observing their physical, mental, and emotional states. The doctor notes down the person's temperament, sleep, anger, reaction to weather, and all habits to select a medicine. Because of this deep investigation, if four different patients have the same headache, their medicines will be different.

Technical and Philosophical Comparison of DAE and DHMS

At first glance, DAE Electrical and DHMS Medicine appear to be two completely different and opposite worlds. On one side, there are high-voltage cables, rattling motors, short circuits, and the exhausting noise of the workshop. On the other side, there are sensitive parts of human anatomy, fine globules, tangled psychology of patients, and their painful tears. But in reality, an astonishing and deep connection is found in the fundamental and scientific philosophy of both fields.

In electrical science, we study that a voltage source and a closed loop are required for current to flow. If the neutral of a circuit breaks or the resistance in between increases excessively, the flow of electricity stops. Exactly in the same way, the entire nervous system of the human body runs on electrical signals of neurons and a wiring network. The human brain is a central power processor that controls the heart and the entire body through fine impulses.

This comparison of technical and medical worlds can be well understood through these shared points:

• Voltage Source versus Vital Force: Voltage gives power to the circuit, while its vital force runs the human body.
• Current Flow versus Nervous System: Electric current in wires and blood circulation in the body are based on entirely similar principles.
• Short Circuit versus Physical Diseases: Line faults and pathological infections both become unwanted blockages inside the system.
• Earthing versus Nervous Balance: The protection of an earth wire and a balanced lifestyle of a human being both provide safety.

When we troubleshoot a factory panel, we locate the actual source of the internal fault by applying a multimeter. We do not rest content just by applying a coat of paint on its outer iron while leaving the burning coil of the transformer. Homeopathy also corrects internal dysfunction and the vital force instead of applying temporary balms on forehead pain. The single common principle of both fields is that the root of the original fault should be uprooted instead of suppressing temporary symptoms.

That era of technical engineering taught me deep thinking, logical calculation, and going to the final end of a problem. Meanwhile, the homeopathic field awakened human empathy, ethics, deep patience, and listening to patients silently in my heart. This technical background of mine taught me to look at complex medical conditions away from traditional thinking. I assess the existence of every new patient not merely as a physical frame, but as an active bio-electrical machine.

4-Year Journey of DHMS: From Initial Difficulties to Success

At the end of the year 2020, when I stepped into the homeopathic medical college, the initial months turned into a trial. Where there was an old habit of holding pliers, wrenches, and heavy tools in hands for years, there were human bones now. Memorizing complex diagrams of human anatomy and long Latin names of muscles again and again was a tough phase. In the beginning, fear often came that perhaps I was walking on the wrong track and wasting my precious time.

However, regular prayers of my mother and constant encouragement from my brother stood like a solid rock before my faltering steps. I started waking up early every morning regularly and memorizing complex medical terminologies by writing them down on paper. When heavy books of Pathology and Materia Medica came in the second year, my dimming passion suddenly began touching heights. Every single homeopathic medicine present in Materia Medica emerged in my imagination as a speaking, living personality.

Third-year Surgery, Gynecology, and Clinical Diagnosis brought us very close to real patients inside a hospital formally. I learned how the color of a patient's face, the coating of the tongue, and the speed of the pulse indicate faults. During the fourth year, solving cases of chronic and complicated patients in Practice of Medicine was an interesting daily challenge. Four years passed in the blink of an eye, and finally, I passed my final board exams with good marks.

As soon as I was free from exams, a six-month hospital house job was the golden time for training in my professional career. Taking detailed case histories of dozens of helpless patients daily alongside senior doctors was my routine work. There I understood that sweet words and heartfelt attention heal half the patient before taking medicine. After the successful completion of the house job, when my formal registration arrived from NCH Islamabad, the happiness was matchless.

My Current Perspective as a Homeopathic Doctor

Today, when I sit on the chair in my clinic, all the tough turns of the past flash like a movie. That matric-pass confused youth of the year 2016, after passing through various stages of hard work, is a certified doctor today. I daily see old and young patients in my clinical chamber who have grown tired of taking antibiotics continuously. Chronic sleep debt, excessive use of mobile screens, and nervous strain have spread like poison in society nowadays.

Most patients coming to my clinic bring complaints of neck stiffness, persistent lethargy, stomach disorders, and severe headaches. I gently explain to the patients that these illnesses are not a deficiency of medicines, but a result of their reversed routines. Here, my old experience of DAE Electrical and logical mind immensely helps in understanding the confusion of the patient. I explain the scientific harms of the human biological clock, circadian rhythm, and blue light of mobile screens to them with an open heart.

The correct method of a few authentic medicines proving useful in everyday routines is as follows:

If we provide natural sunlight, pure food, and adequate sleep to this machine, it never breaks down.

Important Lessons Learned from This Journey of Life

This personal and tough educational journey of mine taught me the basic lesson that a person should not lose hope at any stage. If I had not prioritized my mother's advice in the year 2016, my observation might not have been so sharp and scientific. If Coronavirus had not taken away my teaching job in 2020, I would never have become a part of such a wonderful field of medicine. Behind every seemingly apparent worldly loss, nature has kept a great and matchless path for our being.

My most sincere message for the young generation is never to reject the words of your sincere parents and respectable elders. Their vast experience and sincere prayers open the way to those heights for you where intellect alone fails. The second biggest reality is that technical skill or educational knowledge gained in life never goes waste. Today, I am a homeopathic doctor, but the logical thinking of my electrical background lets me make better decisions daily.

A person should always be ready to change their direction with flexibility according to the demands of changing circumstances. When a door is forcibly closed before you, step forward towards the open door right away instead of getting disappointed. Sincere dedication, continuous hard work, and struggle carried out with good intentions make a person successful in every trial of life. I strongly hope that this personal and true tale of mine has ignited enthusiasm inside you to walk on new paths.

لیکن سال 2020 کے آغاز میں کورونا کی عالمی وبا آئی اور پوری دنیا کے ساتھ پاکستان بھی بند ہو گیا۔ اچانک سخت لاک ڈاؤن لگنے کی وجہ سے تمام تعلیمی ادارے بند ہوئے اور مجھے مجبورا اپنی ٹیچنگ چھوڑنی پڑی۔ زندگی اچانک ایک گہرے ٹھہراؤ کا شکار ہو چکی تھی اور آگے کا کوئی واضح اور روشن راستہ نہیں دکھتا تھا۔ ایسے مشکل وقت میں میرے بڑے بھائی نے مجھے زبردست حوصلہ دیا اور ایک نیا بہترین راستہ دکھایا۔ ان کے بہترین مشورے پر میں نے ڈی ایچ ایم ایس میں داخلہ لے کر ہومیوپیتھی کی دنیا میں قدم رکھا۔

ڈی اے ای کیا ہے؟

ڈی اے ای دراصل "ڈپلومہ آف ایسوسی ایٹ انجینئر" کا مخفف ہے جو ٹیکنیکل تعلیم کی ایک مستند اور ٹھوس سند ہے۔ یہ تین سال پر مشتمل ایک پریکٹیکل اور تھیوریٹیکل ٹیکنیکل پروگرام ہے جو میٹرک سائنس کے بعد شروع ہوتا ہے۔ اس اہم پروگرام کا بنیادی مقصد طلبہ کو محض کتابی باتوں کے بجائے ورکشاپ اور مشین کا ہنر سکھانا ہے۔ پاکستان میں یہ کورس صوبائی ٹیکنیکل ایجوکیشن بورڈز جیسے پنجاب بورڈ آف ٹیکنیکل ایجوکیشن کے زیرِ نگران باقاعدہ کروایا جاتا ہے۔ اس سند کو پورے پاکستان میں ہائر سیکنڈری اسکول سرٹیفکیٹ یعنی ایف ایس سی پری انجینئرنگ کے مساوی مانا جاتا ہے۔

پاکستان میں ڈی اے ای کا آغاز 1950 کی دہائی میں ٹیکنیکل افرادی قوت کی شدید کمی دور کرنے کے لیے ہوا۔ کراچی اور راولپنڈی میں پہلے پولی ٹیکنک انسٹیٹیوٹس بنے تاکہ ملکی صنعتی شعبے کو ایک پائیدار افرادی قوت مل سکے۔ 1970 کی دہائی میں باقاعدہ ٹیکنیکل ایجوکیشن بورڈز بنے تاکہ اس مکمل نظام کو قانونی ڈھانچے کے تحت چلایا جا سکے۔ ایسوسی ایٹ انجینئر کا بنیادی کردار ایک عام ہنرمند کاریگر اور ڈگری ہولڈر انجینئر کے درمیان مضبوط پل ہوتا ہے۔

اس ڈپلومہ میں طلبہ کو رٹے لگانے کے بجائے فیکٹری، لائیو ورکشاپ اور جدید لیب کے اندر پریکٹیکل کروایا جاتا ہے۔ تین سال کے دوران طلبہ بنیادی فزکس، لاگو ریاضی اور انجینئرنگ ورکشاپ پریکٹس کے مشکل امتحانات پاس کرتے ہیں۔ فیکٹری کے اندر کام آنے والے اوزار، وائرنگ سسٹمز اور انڈسٹریل مشینری چلانا اس مکمل کورس کا اصل محور ہے۔ یہی وجہ ہے کہ ڈی اے ای ہولڈر نوجوان روایتی کالج کے طالب علم سے کہیں زیادہ عملی صلاحیت رکھتا ہے۔

اس تین سالہ تعلیمی نظام کے ڈھانچے کو مرحلہ وار اس طرح تقسیم کیا جاتا ہے:

• پہلا سال (بنیادی بنیاد): اس میں الیکٹریکل وائرنگ کے طریقے، بیسک الیکٹرانکس اور اپلائیڈ میتھمیٹکس سکھائی جاتی ہے۔
• دوسرا سال (درمیانی کور): اس میں اے سی مشینیں، برقی پیمائش کے آلات اور پاور جنریشن پڑھائی جاتی ہے۔
• تیسرا سال (اعلیٰ صنعتی): اس میں سوئچ گیئر، سب اسٹیشن، صنعتی موٹرز اور ہیوی کنٹرول سسٹمز سکھائے جاتے ہیں۔

الیکٹریکل ٹیکنالوجی اس ڈپلومہ کی تمام برانچز میں ہمیشہ سب سے زیادہ مقبول، پرکشش اور ڈیمانڈڈ شعبہ مانی جاتی ہے۔ اس کی بنیادی وجہ یہ ہے کہ دنیا کی کوئی چھوٹی بڑی فیکٹری یا جدید عمارت بجلی کے بغیر نہیں چلتی۔ ہر مینوفیکچرنگ یونٹ، ٹیکسٹائل مل، پاور اسٹیشن اور پروسیس انڈسٹری کو ہمیشہ ماہر الیکٹریکل ٹیکنیشنز کی اشد ضرورت رہتی ہے۔ یہاں تک کہ عام کمرشل پلازوں اور جدید رہائشی اسکیموں میں بھی باصلاحیت الیکٹریکل ایسوسی ایٹ انجینئرز کا مستقبل روشن ہے۔

ڈی اے ای الیکٹریکل کا تجربہ اور ٹیچنگ

سال 2016 میں جب میں نے پولی ٹیکنک کالج میں قدم رکھا، تو ارد گرد کی فضا بالکل بدلی نظر آئی۔ ہاتھوں میں عام کتابوں کے ساتھ ملٹی میٹر، تاریں، اسکرو ڈرائیور اور پینل وائرنگ ڈایاگرامز تھامنا بالکل نیا تجربہ تھا۔ میں نے الیکٹریکل سرکٹس، ہیوی ٹرانسفارمرز، سنگل فیز اور تھری فیز انڈکشن موٹرز کے تمام کنکشن خود بنا کر سیکھے۔ ورکشاپ کے شور میں ٹرانسفارمر کی کوائل وائنڈنگ کرنا اور ہائی وولٹیج سوئچ گیئر پینل جوڑنا میرا پسندیدہ مشغلہ تھا۔

کالج کی ہر پریکٹیکل کلاس میرے لیے نیا سائنسی سبق اور ٹیکنیکل سوچ کو نکھارنے کا بہترین اور یادگار ذریعہ بنی۔ تین سال کی انتھک محنت، تحریری امتحانات اور فائنل پروجیکٹس مکمل کرنے کے بعد 2019 میں مجھے میری سند مل گئی۔ ڈپلومہ پاس کرتے ہی فیلڈ میں کام کرنے کا شوق تھا، اس لیے فوری طور پر آگے پڑھنے کا نہیں سوچا۔ میں چاہتا تھا کہ اپنے سیکھے ہوئے ٹیکنیکل ہنر کو اسی وقت گراؤنڈ پر عملی شکل میں استعمال کروں۔

کالج کی انتظامیہ اور تمام قابل اساتذہ کرام میری عملی مہارت اور پڑھانے کی صلاحیت سے پہلے ہی خاصے مطمئن تھے۔ انہوں نے مجھے محبت سے مشورہ دیا کہ میں اپنے ہی ادارے میں جونیئرز کو الیکٹریکل پریکٹیکل سکھانا شروع کروں۔ چنانچہ سال 2019 کے اواخر میں، میں باقاعدہ طور پر اسی کالج میں بطور ٹیکنیکل انسٹرکٹر خدمات سرانجام دینے لگا۔ پہلی مرتبہ لیب میں طلبہ کے سامنے کھڑے ہو کر ملٹی میٹر کے کنکشن سمجھانا ایک باوقار تجربہ تھا۔

میں نوجوان اسٹوڈنٹس کو انڈسٹریل موٹر کنٹرول اور سرکٹ پروٹیکشن کے اصول انتہائی سادہ اور عام فہم اردو میں سکھاتا۔ تمام طلبہ میرے دوستانہ اندازِ تدریس کو بے حد پسند کرتے تھے کیونکہ میں مشکل الجھنیں فورا دور کر دیتا۔ صبح سے دوپہر تک لیب میں کھڑے ہو کر مختلف وائرنگ فالٹس پکڑنا میری روزمرہ کی دلچسپ ڈیوٹی بن گئی تھی۔ مجھے لگ رہا تھا کہ میرا کیریئر اب ٹیکنیکل ٹیچنگ اور الیکٹریکل فیلڈ کے اندر مکمل سیٹ ہو چکا ہے۔

2020 کا عالمی بحران اور کورونا وائرس

زندگی جب اپنے ایک مخصوص روٹین کے ساتھ رواں دواں تھی، تبھی اچانک حالات نے ایک کٹھن موڑ کاٹ لیا۔ سال 2020 کے ابتدائی دنوں میں دنیا بھر میں کورونا وائرس کی تباہ کن وبا پوری شدت کے ساتھ پھیل گئی۔ دیکھتے ہی دیکھتے پاکستان بھر میں ایمرجنسی جیسی صورتحال بنی اور حکومت نے مکمل لاک ڈاؤن نافذ کرنے کا اعلان کر دیا۔

اس اچانک اور سخت فیصلے سے تمام اسکول، پولی ٹیکنک کالجز، پبلک ٹرانسپورٹ اور مارکیٹیں مکمل طور پر بند ہو گئیں۔ ہمارا ٹیکنیکل کالج بھی بند ہو گیا کیونکہ الیکٹریکل وائرنگ اور مشین کا پریکٹیکل آن لائن سکھانا ناممکن عمل تھا۔ پرائیویٹ کالج مینجمنٹ کے لیے اتنے طویل عرصے تک بغیر فیسوں کے اساتذہ کے ماہانہ اخراجات سنبھالنا شدید مشکل ہو گیا۔

مجھے انتہائی بوجھل دل کے ساتھ اپنی پسندیدہ ٹیچنگ چھوڑنی پڑی اور گھر کے ایک کمرے تک محدود ہونا پڑا۔ کئی مہینے مسلسل گھر بیٹھ کر گزارنے پڑے جس کی وجہ سے شدید قسم کا ذہنی تناؤ اور گھٹن بڑھتی گئی۔ مستقل بے یقینی اور معاشی بندش دیکھ کر ایسا لگتا تھا کہ مستقبل کے تمام شاندار دروازے اب بند ہو چکے۔ مجھے کچھ سمجھ نہیں آ رہا تھا کہ اس عالمی بحران کے بعد نوجوانوں کی روزمرہ زندگی کس جانب جائے گی۔

ان سخت ترین اور تاریک دنوں میں میرے بڑے بھائی نے میری مکمل کیفیت کو سمجھا اور ٹھوس رہنمائی کی۔ انہوں نے مجھے واضح سمجھایا کہ اب وقت ضائع کیے بغیر کسی ایسی فیلڈ میں جاؤ جس کی ضرورت ختم نہ ہو۔ انہوں نے دلیل دی کہ انسانی صحت اور ڈاکٹری ایک ایسا مقدس شعبہ ہے جو دنیا میں ہمیشہ قائم رہے گا۔ بھائی کے پرزور اصرار اور رہنمائی پر میں نے بالآخر ڈی ایچ ایم ایس کورس میں باقاعدہ داخلہ لے لیا۔

ڈی ایچ ایم ایس کیا ہے؟

ڈی ایچ ایم ایس دراصل "ڈپلومہ ان ہومیوپیتھک میڈیکل سسٹم" کا مخفف ہے جو پاکستان میں ایک تسلیم شدہ میڈیکل کورس ہے۔ یہ مکمل تعلیمی نصاب نیشنل کونسل فار ہومیوپیتھی کے سخت قواعد کے تحت وفاقی وزارت صحت کی نگرانی میں ہوتا ہے۔ این سی ایچ اسلام آباد پورے پاکستان میں موجود ہومیوپیتھک میڈیکل کالجز کے امتحانات منعقد کرنے اور ڈگریاں دینے کا بااختیار ادارہ ہے۔ چار سال کی باقاعدہ پڑھائی مکمل کرنے کے بعد ہر طالب علم پر چھ ماہ کی کلینیکل ہاؤس جاب کرنا لازم ہے۔

ہاؤس جاب کی کامیاب تکمیل کے بعد کونسل ہر گریجویٹ کو ایک مستند رجسٹریشن نمبر اور قانونی پریکٹس لائسنس جاری کرتی ہے۔ اسی قانونی لائسنس کی بنیاد پر ایک ہومیوپیتھک ڈاکٹر کو پورے پاکستان میں اپنا نجی کلینک چلانے کی اجازت ملتی ہے۔ اس قانونی تحفظ کے باعث ایک کوالیفائیڈ ہومیوپیتھ مریضوں کا معائنہ کر کے انہیں شافی ادویات باقاعدہ تجویز کر سکتا ہے۔ اس میڈیکل پروگرام میں نئے داخلے کے لیے میٹرک سائنس یا بائیولوجی کے ساتھ ایف ایس سی ہونا بنیادی شرط ہے۔

اس چار سالہ میڈیکل پروگرام کا نصاب ہر سال مرحلہ وار اس طرح پڑھایا جاتا ہے:

• پہلا سال: ہیومن اناٹومی، ہیومن فزیالوجی اور ہومیوپیتھک فلاسفی کے بنیادی سائنسی تصورات پڑھائے جاتے ہیں۔
• دوسرا سال: پیتھالوجی، کمیونٹی میڈیسن، مٹیریا میڈیکا اور آرگنن آف میڈیسن کا تفصیلی مطالعہ کروایا جاتا ہے۔
• تیسرا سال: مٹیریا میڈیکا، بنیادی سرجری، گائناکالوجی اور کلینیکل ڈائیگنوسس کے طریقے باقاعدہ سکھائے جاتے ہیں۔
• چوتھا سال: پریکٹس آف میڈیسن، مٹیریا میڈیکا اور کلینیکل کیس ٹیکنگ کی گہری ٹریننگ دی جاتی ہے۔

پاکستان میں ہومیوپیتھک شعبے کو 1965 کے یونانی، آیورویدک اینڈ ہومیوپیتھک پریکٹیشنرز ایکٹ کے تحت مکمل قانونی تحفظ فراہم کیا گیا۔ اس فیڈرل ایکٹ کے نفاذ نے غیر مستند اور عطائی افراد پر کلینک کھولنے کی سخت قانونی ممانعت نافذ کر دی۔ پاکستان میں اس تاریخی قانون کے تحت ہومیوپیتھک طریقہ علاج کو قومی سطح پر باقاعدہ میڈیکل سسٹم تسلیم کیا گیا۔ اس مستحکم نظام نے ملک بھر میں ہومیوپیتھک ڈاکٹرز کو معاشرے میں عزت، وقار اور قانونی حیثیت دلانے میں مدد کی۔

ہومیوپیتھی اور اس کے بنیادی اصول

ہومیوپیتھی ایک خالصتاً سائنسی اور انسانی جسم سے ہم آہنگ طریقہ علاج ہے جو 1796 میں جرمنی سے شروع ہوا۔ اس فطری نظام کے بانی ڈاکٹر سیموئل ہانیمن تھے جو بذاتِ خود اس دور کے نامور ایلوپیتھک ڈاکٹر اور کیمسٹ تھے۔ وہ اس پرانے دور کے تکلیف دہ طریقوں مثلاً زبردستی خون بہانے اور خطرناک کیمیکلز سے علاج کرنے سے سخت بیزار تھے۔ انہوں نے سنکونا کی چھال خود کھا کر ثابت کیا کہ وہ تندرست جسم میں ملیریا کے بخار جیسی علامات لاتی ہے۔

وہاں سے انہوں نے علاج کا وہ لازوال قانون اخذ کیا جسے لاطینی زبان میں "Similia Similibus Curentur" کا نام دیا گیا۔ اس سنہری اصول کا سادہ مطلب "Like cures like" ہے، یعنی جس بیماری جیسی علامات دوا پیدا کرے وہی دوا شفا دیتی ہے۔ جو دوا تندرست انسان کے جسم میں مخصوص علامات لاتی ہے، وہی بیمار کو اس مرض سے نجات دلاتی ہے۔ ڈاکٹر سیموئل ہانیمن نے اپنے اس شاندار انقلابی طبی فلسفے کو اپنی شاہکار کتاب "Organon of Medicine" میں قلمبند کیا۔

ہومیوپیتھک سائنس کے سات سنہری اصول جن پر پورا طریقہ علاج قائم ہے:

• لا آف سمبلیا: اس فطری اصول کے مطابق مثل کا علاج ہمیشہ مثل دوا سے ہی کیا جاتا ہے۔
• لا آف سمپلیکس: ایک وقت میں مریض کے اندر صرف ایک ہی واحد دوا دی جانی چاہیے۔
• لا آف منیمم ڈوز: دوا کی مقدار جتنی زیادہ لطیف اور کم ہوگی اثر اتنا ہی گہرا ہوگا۔
• ڈاکٹرائن آف ڈرگ پروونگ: دوائی کے اصل اثرات اور علامات پہلے تندرست انسانوں پر پرکھے جاتے ہیں۔
• تھیوری آف کرونک ڈیزیزز: موروثی میازمی زہر ہی دراصل دنیا کی تمام پرانی بیماریوں کی اصل جڑ ہیں۔
• تھیوری آف وائٹل فورس: انسانی جسم کو چلانے والا ایک باقاعدہ اندرونی انرجی اور حیات کا نظام ہے۔
• لا آف پوٹینٹائزیشن: دوا کو بار بار جھٹکے اور ڈائلوٹ کر کے اس کی پوشیدہ طاقت جگائی جاتی ہے۔

ہومیوپیتھی کا دوسرا اہم ترین اصول یہ ہے کہ مریض کو دوا کی کم ترین مقدار یعنی "Minimum Dose" کھلائی جائے۔ اس سسٹم میں قدرتی اجزا کو انتہائی باریک سائنسی طریقے سے مرحلہ وار پوٹینٹائز اور ڈائلوٹ کیا جاتا ہے۔ پوٹینٹائزیشن کا عمل مادے کے زہریلے اثرات کچل کر اس کے اندر چھپی انرجی اور شفا بخش صلاحیت بیدار کر دیتا ہے۔ اسی سائنسی عمل کی بدولت ہومیوپیتھک ادویات انسانی جسم کے حساس نظام پر کوئی خطرناک سائیڈ ایفیکٹ نہیں چھوڑتیں۔

تیسری اہم بات یہ ہے کہ ہومیوپیتھی جسم کے کسی ایک عضو کو الگ تھلگ کر کے کبھی علاج نہیں کرتی۔ یہ مریض کو ایک مکمل زندہ اکائی مان کر اس کی جسمانی، ذہنی اور جذباتی کیفیات کو دیکھ کر چلتی ہے۔ ڈاکٹر صاحب دوا منتخب کرنے کے لیے انسان کا مزاج، نیند، غصہ، موسم سے ردعمل اور تمام تر عادات نوٹ کرتے ہیں۔ اسی گہری تحقیق کی وجہ سے اگر چار مختلف مریضوں کو ایک ہی سر درد ہو، تو ادویات مختلف ہوں گی۔

ڈی اے ای اور ڈی ایچ ایم ایس کا فنی اور فکری موازنہ

الیکٹریکل سائنس میں ہم پڑھتے ہیں کہ کرنٹ فلو کرنے کے لیے وولٹیج کا سورس اور بند لوپ درکار ہوتا ہے۔ اگر سرکٹ کا نیوٹرل کٹ جائے یا درمیانی مزاحمت حد سے زیادہ بڑھ جائے تو بجلی کا بہاؤ رک جاتا ہے۔ عین اسی طرز پر انسانی جسم کا سارا اعصابی نظام نیورونز کے برقی سگنلز اور وائرنگ نیٹ ورک پر چلتا ہے۔ انسانی دماغ ایک مرکزی پاور پروسیسر ہے جو باریک لہروں کے ذریعے دل اور پورے جسم کو کنٹرول کرتا ہے۔

4 سال ڈی ایچ ایم ایس کا سفر: ابتدائی مشکلات سے کامیابی تک

لیکن والدہ کی باقاعدہ دعائیں اور بھائی کا مسلسل حوصلہ میرے ڈگمگاتے قدموں کے آگے مضبوط چٹان بن کر کھڑے رہے۔ میں نے ہر صبح باقاعدگی سے جلدی جاگ کر پیچیدہ میڈیکل اصطلاحات کو کاغذ پر لکھ لکھ کر یاد کرنا شروع کیا۔ جب دوسرے سال میں پیتھالوجی اور مٹیریا میڈیکا کی بھاری کتابیں آئیں تو میرا مدہم شوق اچانک بلندیوں کو چھونے لگا۔ مٹیریا میڈیکا میں موجود ہر سنگل ہومیوپیتھک دوا میرے تصور میں ایک بولتی اور جیتی جاگتی شخصیت بن کر ابھری۔

تیسرے سال کی سرجری، گائناکالوجی اور کلینیکل ڈائیگنوسس نے ہمیں باقاعدہ ہسپتال کے اندر حقیقی مریضوں کے بہت قریب کر دیا۔ میں نے سیکھا کہ مریض کے چہرے کا رنگ، زبان کی تہہ اور نبض کی رفتار کیسے فالٹ بتاتی ہے۔ چوتھے سال کے دوران پریکٹس آف میڈیسن میں پرانے اور پیچیدہ مریضوں کے کیسز حل کرنا روز کا دلچسپ چیلنج تھا۔ چار سال دیکھتے ہی دیکھتے گزر گئے اور بالآخر میں نے اپنے فائنل بورڈ امتحانات اچھے نمبروں سے پاس کیے۔

امتحانات سے فارغ ہوتے ہی چھ ماہ کی ہسپتال ہاؤس جاب میرے پیشہ ورانہ کیریئر کی تربیت کا سنہری وقت تھا۔ سینئر ڈاکٹرز کے ہمراہ بیٹھ کر دن میں بیسیوں لاچار مریضوں کی تفصیلی کیس ہسٹری لینا میرا روز کا کام تھا۔ وہاں پر مجھے سمجھ آئی کہ میٹھے بول اور دلی توجہ سے ادھا مریض دوائی کھانے سے پہلے ٹھیک ہوتا ہے۔ ہاؤس جاب کی کامیاب تکمیل کے بعد جب این سی ایچ اسلام آباد سے میری باضابطہ رجسٹریشن آئی، تو خوشی بے مثال تھی۔

ایک ہومیوپیتھک ڈاکٹر کی حیثیت سے میرا موجودہ نقطہ نظر

آج جب میں اپنے کلینک میں کرسی پر بیٹھتا ہوں تو ماضی کے تمام کٹھن موڑ کسی فلم کی طرح گھومتے ہیں۔ سال 2016 کا وہ میٹرک پاس الجھا ہوا نوجوان، محنت کے مختلف مراحل سے گزر کر ایک سند یافتہ ڈاکٹر ہے۔ میں اپنے کلینکل چیمبر میں روزانہ ایسے بوڑھے اور جوان مریض دیکھتا ہوں جو مسلسل اینٹی بائیوٹکس کھا کر تھک چکے۔ دائمی نیند کی کمی، موبائل اسکرین کا بے جا استعمال اور اعصابی تناؤ آج کل معاشرے میں زہر بن کر پھیل چکا ہے۔

میرے اس ذاتی اور کٹھن تعلیمی سفر نے مجھے بنیادی سبق سکھایا کہ انسان کو کسی موڑ پر ناامید نہیں ہونا چاہیے۔ اگر سال 2016 میں اپنی والدہ کے مشورے کو ترجیح نہ دیتا تو شائد میرا مشاہدہ اتنا باریک اور سائنسی نہ ہوتا۔ اگر 2020 میں کورونا وائرس میری ٹیچنگ جاب نہ چھینتا تو میں طب کے اتنے شاندار شعبے کا حصہ کبھی نہ بنتا۔ ہر بظاہر نظر آنے والے دنیاوی نقصان کے پیچھے قدرت نے ہماری ذات کے لیے ایک عظیم اور بے مثال راستہ رکھا ہوتا ہے۔

نوجوان نسل کے لیے میرا سب سے مخلصانہ پیغام یہی ہے کہ اپنے مخلص والدین اور باوقار بڑوں کی بات کبھی مت ٹھکرائیں۔ ان کا وسیع تجربہ اور پرخلوص دعائیں آپ کے لیے ان بلندیوں کا راستہ کھول دیتی ہیں جہاں تنہا عقل ناکام رہتی ہے۔ دوسری سب سے بڑی حقیقت یہ ہے کہ حاصل کیا گیا ٹیکنیکل ہنر یا تعلیمی علم زندگی میں کبھی رائیگاں نہیں جاتا۔ آج کے دن میں ایک ہومیوپیتھک ڈاکٹر ہوں لیکن میری الیکٹریکل بیک گراؤنڈ کی لاجیکل سوچ روز مجھے بہتر فیصلے کرنے دیتی ہے۔

انسان کو بدلتے ہوئے حالات کے تقاضوں کے مطابق اپنی سمت کو لچک کے ساتھ تبدیل کرنے کے لیے ہر دم تیار رہنا چاہیے۔ جب آپ کے سامنے کوئی ایک دروازہ زبردستی بند ہو جائے، تو مایوس ہونے کے بجائے کھلے در پر فورا قدم بڑھائیں۔ سچی لگن، مسلسل محنت اور نیک نیتی سے کی جانے والی جدوجہد انسان کو زندگی کے ہر امتحان میں کامیاب کر دیتی ہے۔ مجھے قوی امید ہے کہ میری اس ذاتی اور سچی داستان نے آپ کے اندر نئے راستوں پر چلنے کا ولولہ جگایا ہوگا۔
