Writing has always been my passion even though I never got a chance to do it professionally. Facebook has been my favorite platform. I write poems, short stories, commentaries and what I call "silly comments".
I was introduced to hive by my former school mate and friend @newbreed. He introduced me to it about a month ago via WhatsApp messenger. Honestly, I had never heard anything about this kind of blockchain before. It sounded too good to be true. But I didn't understand a damn thing he was saying but I pretended to. He asked me to get my introduction post ready as that would be my first post, and he sent me templates on how to go about it. He did all the registration for me and unboarded me. Immediately he told me he was done, I rushed to post my introduction post via ecency. I didn't even know the proper tags to add. I just selected a community (lifestyle) and posted. He was the one quickly helped in editing that post and setting it properly.
Normally, complex stuff usually beats my comprehension when explained theoretically, so he did well to arrange for a face-to-face meeting so he could explain better and further. But then, I only got acquainted with all the relevant Dapps on hive when I started using them practically. Now I can conveniently navigate all of them.
It's quite impressive to know that every community has its own rules that one must adhere to before posting in there. The nontolerance for plagiarism is so firm and that's good. Writers and content creators in general must learn to be creative and come up with original contents. I have also learned how to use the front end interface in writing, as well as how to source, hyperlinks and all of that. I am even more freqent on discord and X than anywhere else. It's amazing how all these platforms connect and I love it.
It's been exciting so far, reading other people's blogs , and must say I am always blown away by most of the contents I see here. Besides, my writing skills has improved, though I haven't really been writing much blog posts. Sometimes, I just get carried away with reading from others that I forget to post mine. But I will try writing more, though I just love to read.
My greatest challenge has been in keeping up with the weekly prompts and contest organized by some communities. I am usually busy in the day time, and when I come online at night I just read what others have written. I have promised myself that I'm going to do better.
Hive has been a big distraction from other social media platforms. I spend more time now on hive than anywhere else. My presence on Facebook has been greatly affected, but that's fine (smiles). I haven't been monetized so… Isn't it awesome to burn data in a space that literally rewards you for every activity you do on it?
In hive, we learn and earn. Everyone wins. Somebody cheers!
Thanks for reading. .
