For me, remembrance means impact, footprints and the legacy one leaves behind.
When I was employed at my current firm as a Change Agent. Amongst the many things I wanted to achieve lay these important points. To advocate for diversity, equality and inclusion. Be a voice to the voiceless, add value and give fair judgment. This was because my findings revealed that there are issues of a lopsided recruitment with a particular tribe having the highest quota, bullying of junior staff by management staff and discrimination among staff.
To launch my plan, I reviewed existing policies and introduced new ones that will help me achieve success. However, there was resistance from a few management staff, but I secured the support of senior management and the board of directors to implement my plan after the presentation.

Within a few months of onboarding, the lopsided quota was balanced among the three main tribes, with minority tribes considered during recruitment. Again, the ratio of female employees was increased to ten percent.
Tackling the issue of bullying of junior staff by management staff, one of the management staff members was used as a scapegoat with the backing of the board of directors.
How it happened.
The management staff has a connection with one of the board members. He leveraged the connection to threaten employees with dismissal at any time there was a minor incident. One fateful day, I sent a maintenance staff member who complained about a reduction in his overtime sheet prepared by the management staff to meet him and reconcile the figures before resubmission.
Getting there, the management staff challenged the employee, grabbed him by his neck and threatened to kill him. This degenerated into a serious fracas on the production floor, and it was reported to me. I summoned the two employees, issued them a query and launched an investigation.
Findings revealed that the management staff was culpable, and with his status in the factory, he sent emissaries to frustrate the disciplinary committee I launched to address the issue. However, he ran out of options when I shared the report of the disciplinary committee with the board.

To the surprise of the factory staff, he was put on a one-month suspension without pay. That action restored sanity and equality among the employees.
Furthermore, the changes I initiated in recruitment increased the integrity and viability of the business. The discipline of the management staff restored equality and mutual respect among staff. Today, in the organisation, I have impacted the lives of employees by ensuring that salaries are disbursed early, providing medical attention, access to credit facilities, initiating a work-life balance structure and providing offboarding compensation and benefits, etc.
Furthermore, I publish a yearly training calendar of career growth and development, and place employees on an improvement plan instead of relieving them of their roles when they fall below the performance appraisal benchmark.
Additionally, outside my office role, I have participated in volunteer work in the children's section of my church, being a voice for the voiceless.
