HIVE on the Web 2.0

🗣 INTRO

There have been many publications and discussions about the importance of HIVE having a presence “outside,” namely on social networks outside the blockchain, on web2 platforms.

In my view, one of the main advantages is the possibility that publications made on HIVE will have more engagement and can be seen by many more people. On HIVE, most people vote but do not consume the publications. Well, web2 social networks are a solution to this problem.

Another advantage, in my opinion, is HIVE's presence outside the blockchain and its openness to the outside world. Not that this will have an immediate impact on attracting new users, but it can generate curiosity and open doors in the future.

Those who embrace HIVE as a project to be successful have a chance here to promote HIVE on web2 and benefit from it.

The Poshtoken Project initiative, through @redditposh, on the Reddit and X (formerly Twitter) platforms, has been an example of success. More than 650 users have already joined the initiative and generate thousands of entries on HIVE every week through shares on Reddit. That's remarkable traffic!

In addition to these two well-known and successful platforms, I want to share with you two others that I like to use to expand the reach (consumption) of my publications and promote HIVE: Bluesky and Medium.

1️⃣ REDDIT

Reddit.png
What is it?
It is the oldest social network on the internet and, just over a year ago, the HivePosh Project created @redditposh and encouraged the sharing of HIVE articles on this web2 social network. To participate in this initiative, all you need is a Reddit account and to register it on the website www.hiveposh.com for the connection to be made. [You can find more information here].

Every week, @x-rain publishes a post explaining the participation process, reporting on the engagement achieved, and announcing the winners of the Hive Posh Contest. [This was the last post].

2️⃣ X (ex Twitter)

x-ex-twitter.jpg
What is it?
It's the microblogging platform everyone is looking for. Ideal for sharing and engagement. Knowing this, the HivePosh Project rewards those who promote HIVE on Elon Musk's network, with proof subsequently published on Snaps.

You can find out more about the aims of this initiative here, and here is a complete tutorial on how to participate and earn from it.

Every week, @shiftrox compiles a Best of list of the best shares on platform X. [This is the latest publication].

3️⃣ BLUESKY

Bluesky.png
What is it?

It is a decentralized microblogging social network created by former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey. It is similar to Twitter, allowing users to post 300-character messages, which users call Skeets.

It has the unique feature of working with the AT (Authenticated Transfer Protocol), which allows several different servers to communicate with each other in the same space. Similar to email, where a Google (Gmail) account can communicate with someone who has a Microsoft (Outlook) account.

Bluesky also stands out in the way feeds are constructed. It is possible to customize timelines, making it the first social network to make algorithm selection a reality.

It's easy to open an account on Bluesky, just use your email address. Once your account is open, just leave the link to your HIVE post and do the Skeet. Hashtags help drive traffic.

The HivePosh Project also includes Bluesky in the initiative. However, I think the rewards are inactive, I'm not sure. Maybe @acidyo can clarify this better.

4️⃣ MEDIUM

Medium.png

Interestingly, this platform was also created by a former Twitter co-founder, Evan Williams. It is a mix of personal blog and social network.

It stands out for its minimalist, clean interface, which focuses primarily on quality content. Authors and readers share knowledge in various areas, which enables monetization (optional). They have an initiative, the Medium Partner Program, which allows member authors to earn money based on the time other members spend reading their publications.

This is undoubtedly the best platform for acquiring and sharing knowledge in various areas, from technology to art. It can also be inspiring for creating publications.

Interestingly, Medium is HIVE-friendly! How so? This platform accepts publications in full from HIVE, through hive.blog only. I don't have the technical knowledge to explain it, but links from @peakd, @ecency, etc, are not accepted on Medium. I don't know if the problem is theirs or ours. Maybe @asgarth and @good-karma can explain.

But don't be sad! Through the hive.blog link, you can insert your complete article made on HIVE into the Medium platform.

With this brief tutorial, you'll be able to do it in a few seconds.

👨‍🏫

All the posts we make on the various frontends also end up on hive.blog. I took this post of mine on HIVE as an example.
⬇️ STEP 1 ⬇️

1-medium.png

Copy the link to the post on hive.blog

2-Medium.png

⬇️ STEP 2 ⬇️

3-Medium.png

Once you have opened your account on Médium (it's very simple), go to the menu (on the left side of the interface) and click on “Stories.”
⬇️ STEP 3 ⬇️

4-Medium.png
On the new page that opens, click on “Import a story.”

⬇️ STEP 4 ⬇️

5-Medium.png
Here, paste the link copied from hive.blog and then click on “Import.”

⬇️ STEP 5 ⬇️

6-Medium.png

Here, the system informs us that we can make changes to the formatting, reorganize the publication and images, etc. We proceed to “See your story.”
⬇️ STEP 6 ⬇️

7-Medium.png

Before clicking “Publish,” we can remove or add photos, change the text, and adapt the article to this new address. As we were informed in the previous step.

⬇️ STEP 7 ⬇️

8-Medium.png

Final organization of the publication, tagging (topics), and introductory text of the article. After that: “Publish and send now.”

9-Medium.png

Published on Medium.

The HivePosh Project does not include Medium in the initiative. Perhaps it doesn't even make sense, given the specificity of this platform. While on the others (Reddit, X, and Bluesky) we post the link, which will generate entries on HIVE. Here it is different, the HIVE article remains in its entirety and is consumed here. It does not add traffic to HIVE. Although at the end of the publications, the link to hive.blog is always fixed.

Another difficulty is the metrics for awarding rewards, Medium does not worship views. Especially because there are three different types of accounts. One is free, which allows you to publish, but limits the reading of articles. Another is “Member,” which costs $5 USD per month and, in addition to publishing, allows you to access all articles. And finally, there is the “Friend” account, which costs $15 USD per month. This one allows for four times more traffic and more exposure on the platform.

But don't be discouraged, if you want to explore Medium to promote your publications, you can count on my support. Just make a post on any HIVE microblogging site (Snaps, Waves, Theread, Liketu, Snapie), with a screenshot of the Medium post, and I guarantee you a 100% upvote (tag @cryptoreforma).

In conclusion, after finishing a publication on HIVE, another stage of about 15 minutes begins, a routine of promoting what I do on HIVE on these four platforms web2.

It's great to see that we are sharing a lot about Hive elsewhere, which may at some point attract more attention and even more people interested in joining Hive!

We need to keep up the good work, we're doing great!
