MY CHICK FRIEND

I once had a little chick at about age 7. I went visiting my grand maternal home that very day when I ended up coming home with a chick as a gift from my uncle. It's kinda a tradition in our place in which children are given chicks at a young age and they grow together with the chick which end up getting them more chick which eventually grows to a chicken 🐔 which we either sale when fully grown or use it to make a farm.
On coming back mom asked that I drop my new chick at my maternal home cos our home wasn't good enough for breeding chicks. On dropping my precious chick, grown up chicken were attacking it. At that point the warrior in me got activated, I chased every chicken that came it way while crying 😭😭😭, I kept crying till mummy came to console me telling me that's how they behave, they tends to attack the new ones especially if it's a chick yet I refused to let go.

Everyday I ensure I come visit my maternal home just to see my precious chick🥹 within few days it could defend itself and the rate at which others attack it reduce drastically.

After some months it's of my delight to inform you all that I became a grand ma. My chick was now a full grown fowl having the male cork folk around her😊, her first chick were about three with one looking like her and the other two definitely from her lover 🤭.

Even when my chicks decided that it's found a new home which wasn't mine, I kept crying following it about and my grandma, aunt and uncles were just busy laughing at my innocence. That's earned me a name then which was the cry cry baby, thinking back to that period of time I can't really believe I was literally walking behind a chick round a compound talking to it as if I was one of it.

Pets can be the amazing companions of ours if only we give ourselves a chance to own up to one, provide for it, be part of their lifes same way they becomes part of ours.
