Hello everyone in this beautiful community. How are you? Today I've come to be a little dramatic and share my nostalgia with you, who share the same feeling: a love for animals. Especially for these little ones who know how to steal our hearts like no one else does.
Let me introduce you to Kiara and Paloma. And to give you some context about my tearful day, I'll tell you a little bit about it.

A few years ago, I lost my little Paloma, the gift my grandmother left me before she died, and the friend and guardian who took care of me more than I took care of her. I believe there are no words to explain the connection we create with these beings, nor the magnitude of their unconditional love. Perhaps there are not enough words to speak of them without thinking of the wickedness of us human beings.

And noooo, I'm not talking about Paloma in the photo, but rather a friend who has already passed away. The thing here, my friends, is that after losing her, I believed I was incapable of loving again or forming a bond with another of our small mammals. And then Kiara arrived, the bigger one here in the photo. A friend asked me to take care of her when she left the country, and without knowing it, the favor was actually being done to me.

At first, I didn't want much contact or play with her; I only took care of her and supplied her basic needs, leaving the rest to my mom, who was gradually becoming her mother. But without knowing at what point in the story it happened, I ended up coming home after long days at university or work and, before opening the door, I would feel the call of canine love. And even though I paid her no mind at all, she would come running to jump on me or roll over so I would scratch her belly as a pleasing gesture. It became a routine, and without realizing it, I was already waiting for her at the door when I arrived; if I didn't see her, I would call her. Thus, during my study hours, sleep, bathroom breaks, in everything, she has followed me.
And later came our new Paloma, a gift for my mom who wanted her own little girl, and who went through so many painful processes that more than once she was brought back to life. So she didn't develop fully and stayed just like that, small as you see her. She's the craziest one in the house, because she runs and jumps like a deer and a kangaroo, haha.

Both of them brought back my grandmother's company somehow, if you know what I mean. Both of them pulled me out of my gray days, out of the stress of studying, out of anxiety. The truth is I've never been one for many friends, let alone going out; at most, my world was staying in my room, but there they were, even making me laugh until I felt sick.
At what point did this happen? Why is the love of animals so pure? Could a human being ever surrender themselves in this way?

Due to finishing my university studies, I left home some time ago. And yes, not coming back at night and not having a loving bark when opening the door has been tough. On bad days, the distance has hit me hard. The thing is, they become more than family, a part of you that you need like when you drink water after eating. It seems I've had both of them so present in my mind these days that I ended up dreaming about them last night and woke up looking at the photos. Someone already said that remembering is living again. What do you think, friends?
Hug and love your babies ❤️. I love seeing you talk so nicely about them here, and I appreciate your work in this community. I send you greetings from afar and may God bless you 🙏🏻❤️.
