Introvert Talks - All Work And No Play Makes Relf A Dull Boy

image.png

"Introvert Talks" is meant to be a new initiative or theme, where I myself as an introvert, just talk about reflections and thoughts about my life, or maybe share more personal stuff. :)

This is my weekly post under this "Introvert Talks" theme and let's see where it takes me and us.

What an hectic month so far!

20 days ago, I wrote my post in this community, and one of my paragraphs read:
The second thing that I wanted to mention is about my upcoming busy schedule. Personally, I am quite a chill guy and don't like really to be too busy because it gets stressful and then I don't get enough rest, I don't have time or even become too tired to exercise, and then my mood becomes cranky. I am sure most people would get what I mean. But we don't get what we want in life all the time. Haha. Starting the coming week and for the most parts of June, my schedule is looking packed with stuff and the only consolation is that all the hectic stuff will be over in June (hopefully) and things will become more normalised from end June onwards.

So we are in mid Jun and I am somewhere in the middle of these stormy waters, and I can't wait for the busy month to be over. In the mean time, it's really all about managing my stress levels, keeping my mindset positive, and don't give myself too much pressure.

That said, there's only that much I could do. I soon realised that the side effects of the busy schedules started to show up. I found myself very tired at the end of the day, and I just want to return home, grab a bite, and go straight to bed. I just had little to no energy to keep up with my hobbies, and even exercise. And I felt myself relating to the saying - all work and no plays makes Jack a dull boy.

It made me realise how important my hobbies and interests were to my personal well being. Take Hive for example (since we are on Hive here), it's my little sanctuary, where I could let my imagination run wild, where I could engage with friends in this community, or just admire those wonderful photos of different parts of the world on Worldmappin. All these minutes and hours spent here and secretly helped me de-stress and suddenly, when I had to give up temporarily, it felt like my life became less colourful and there's lesser excitement to look forward to each day. And these little things bit by bit affected my mood as well.

Someone once said, don't ever let a crisis go to waste, because there are always lessons to be learnt. While I am not going through a crisis, I think this hectic period made me realise how important my hobbies and interests are to me, and always try to make time for them.

Ending off with an awesome root beer float! Treated myself at the end of the week for surviving everything life has thrown at me so far! We battle on!

It’s funny I’ve never had a root beer float I’ll have to try that one of these days!

First thing - make sure you are supplementing with magnesium during stressful times like this! There’s a few different varieties of it I prefer Glycinate myself because it helps with our immune system as well. Magnesium is one of the most critical nutrients for our body during stressful times. I’ve been taking it daily for a year now and won’t look back!

I hear you on the stressful events, hopefully now that the month is nearly over (which is crazy to think about!) you should be winding the chaos down but it’s important to see if there’s hobbies to partake in even during the chaotic times.

Thanks for the health tip!

Yeah the good part is the chaos is almost over, but the not so good part is the chaos will unfortunately extend into early July. So on one hand, everyone has a little more breathing space to meet the deadlines but on the other hand, am slightly further from the light at the end of the tunnel.

Hehe! Thanks for dropping by!
