You Made It! .:. Walk & Talk Series

It has been almost two months since my last Walk and Talk Series video, and as much as I would like to do them more often, I just can't make it... I know that some of you appreciate them, and that's why it's bothering me even more... πŸ™‚ Anyway, here I am, with the first video from this series that I'm recording near the place where I live! I was searching for a good spot to do it, and I hope I found one of them as slowly, I'm discovering more peaceful places around me... They are not as beautiful as the previous place with the sea, woods, oranges, and mountains, but I can say that I enjoy these walks, again!

We had a nice Wednesday mission on Liotes, where we asked people How do they stay motivated? We got a lot of great comments and feedback, and I enjoyed reading them... Many people are struggling with motivation, especially on "bad days", and I'm no exception! Being demotivated usually causes (or is caused by) some other issues, additional stress, and anxiousness, which lead to discussions, arguments, and fights... Also, we tend to overthink which adds fuel to the fire instead of bringing a solution...

Liotes Divider Blue.png

In the video, I run through my personal struggles with motivation, lack of support, and understanding from the closest ones... All that creates doubts and uncertainty, and then, things can get ugly... I did many different jobs in my life, and I wasn't lucky with the support from my family and friends... Most of the time, I was doing the opposite thing of what my parent or friends would "see me doing." Because of that, they would say that I'm crazy if I do "that" or that I will fail... It sounds opposite to what we see in the movies when everyone supports friends and family... πŸ˜ƒ

In the end, you do "your thing." You are happy with what you are doing, and then the "bad days" come... as they have to come... It's normal... Everything looked so wrong; why was that happening? It makes no sense! I made all the right moves! In addition, all those people who told you not to DO IT are back again, rubbing it in your face... "We told you!" You would like to scream like the guy from The Big Short movie... You were too early...

Liotes Divider Blue.png

The thing is that... Most of the time, the majority isn't right... And to be honest, when I realize I'm doing the same as everyone else, I doubt my decisions... It's weird when everyone approves of what you are doing... πŸ˜ƒ Luckily, with crypto, everyone thought that I was crazy, and only a few people understood the whole point... So, I was "feeding" myself from others' denials... πŸ˜ƒ

Long story short... I came to the point of life when I began asking some "big questions"... Did I waste my time? Was this all worth it? It wasn't the first time I asked those questions, and you probably did the same, too... It's a good moment to ZOOM OUT things to be able to respond to them... When we are struggling on the battlefield, under pressure and stress, it's hard to see the "light", but when we zoom out, it gets better...

It's the moment to see what we accomplished! I did pass the exam! I did get the girl that I wanted! I raised beautiful children! I got the house! I got that job!

I made it!

You should tap yourself on the shoulder as you deserve it! You made a change in your life, and you made a change in someone else's lives, too!

Thank you for your time.

Yay these words of wisdom videos are back!

"We told you!"

I agree with this and so much of what you said in the video.

Over the last few years, I figured that it was always better to be contrarian and be different from the rest, but like what you said, there will always be bad days and cycles and the journey is never easy. Among my social circle, I am probably the most unconventional when it comes to stuff like cryptos. Fortunately, over time, I have learnt to surround myself with like minded friends, be it on Hive, and a few of my friends, who don't mind me blabbering all these stuff.

Among my social circle, I am probably the most unconventional when it comes to stuff like cryptos. Fortunately, over time, I have learnt to surround myself with like minded friends, be it on Hive, and a few of my friends, who don't mind me blabbering all these stuff.

I suppose that's imminent... I have old friends that I was trying to lure into crypto, but they weren't ready, and I quit... I'm still good with them, but I don't force the crypto story at all.. Only if they mention or ask... There are plenty of topics to talk about...

On the other side, it's also normal to meet new people who share your passion and with whom you can share your thoughts... Like here on HIVE...

Yeah there's always other stuff to talk about hehe! ;)

Yesterday I sat down for coffee with one of my younger former colleagues. Programmer in a foreign company, married, loan for an apartment. car loan, three children, the youngest only one and a half years old.
Tired, overburdened, constantly in a rush, he said at one point that he does not see where this world and our lives are going and why we are trying at all.
He say "I can't wait for the children to grow up, finish high school and say goodbye to them and stop doing anything.".
"Well my friend, take it easy, don't stare.
Considering that you have a baby, I appreciate that for at least another 15 to 20 years you should be a top dad, their superhero and the strongest man in the world. I won't hear you whine like this," I told him.
"And then, when the children finish college and find a job, say goodbye to them. See them off to life, and only then go on vacation."
I don't know what got into him? Maybe these protests against the corrupt government and the very fact that he lives with his family in such a thieving state.
But he has to find strength in his family, to change his thinking a little. To motivate himself to keep pushing hard.

When I listen to him, with the story that he lacks a motive for life and has three small children, our motivation for Hive, crypto or generally making money, seems like some children's story, naive and cute πŸ™‚

It's all about perspective... and don't get tricked that the problems of the new generations are bigger than the problems of our grandfathers were... You know that there are many sayings in Serbian for exactly these things... svačija muka je njemu samom najteΕΎa... πŸ˜ƒ

Is it harder to raise children that you made by your own choice, or driving a car over a bridge under air attack, or to go to the war without knowing how long and if you will come back, and to what you will come back... It's relative, it's personal, and it depends on many things...

I don't know what got into him? Maybe these protests against the corrupt government and the very fact that he lives with his family in such a thieving state.

I can understand that very well... as I have probably mentioned that many times in my comments (not sure in posts), but similar to that, it was my MAIN reason to find a better place for my child and my family... I was "black sheep" as I left the country... was labelled as a guy who surrendered... Fighting for a better life for your family can't be surrendering...

I hope your friend will find the light in the tunnel and enjoy his family and what he has... As you said, it's not all about money, crypto... It's about creating beautiful moments, memories, and helping others, as that makes us feel better...

Thanks for checking out the post and leaving this great comment!

Thank you for taking the time to treat us to a new "walk and talk" video.

I have to agree, the old environment seemed nicer, but OK and this is satisfying.
Just watch out for the car.

"MAIN reason to find a better place for my child and my family... I was "black sheep" as I left the country... was labelled as a guy who surrendered... Fighting for a better life for your family can't be surrendering..."
My own brother also decided to go to Scotland with his family... He had the courage, unlike me, who stayed where I am and who relives the protests, like back in 96/97...

For most of my adult life I've been an employee, working for someone else's company (and learning in the process). I quit my job 7 years ago, in 2018 and, like you, I've gotten many strange looks.

I don't always stay motivated in this entrepreneur lifestyle, but I think an amazing tool to use when motivation is low is called discipline.

If you don't feel like it, you do it anyway.

I don't know what will happen in 2030, but I know I'll have some HIVE in my wallet. If I'm right, and the price changes, I'll have some money to put away for a rainy day.

Great video my friend!

0.00010610 BEE

If you don't feel like it, you do it anyway.

That's crucial! I remember a tough time when my motivation was saying to myself... "If I don't do it, nobody will!" As literally, I didn't have other employees who could do it... You are your own boss... lol... πŸ˜ƒ

Thank you very much for your kind words! 😍

Btw. you have a lot of good things to share that could be useful for many... How about having you as a special guest in one of the next #HHHLive shows? I bet the audience would be delighted to hear you and your thoughts on HIVE and entrepreneurship...
Are you in for something like that? πŸ™‚

One of the hardest things to do in life is stay true to your beliefs in spite of the people around us saying we shouldn’t and should modify it. I’ve known it several times, and a few critically important times. It’s super difficult mentally and emotionally but we have to have resolve and do what we need to do.

Hopefully you can maintain your resolve and the people around you will either change their opinion to appreciate yours more, or they will leave the subject alone.

0.00009213 BEE

Thank you very much for your kind words!

It is difficult to stay on course when everyone is pushing their own agenda...It would be easier to follow the herd, but I suppose it's not that appreciative like doing your "own thing" πŸ˜ƒ

Long story short... It's worth the struggle and pain! πŸ’ͺ

0.00000000 BEE

Yeah dude absolutely! There was immense pressure for me, which it sounds like there was for you, but sticking to my guns proved the right path.

At the same time - there needs to be examples where we are willing to adjust where need be! I think it's just a delicate balance between what we need to adjust versus what we are not willing to on.

0.00004546 BEE

Hmmm... I could feel it in your voice that things are getting to you... Perhaps coupled with the uncertainty of nowadays, both in crypto and generally.

I had many doubts. Haven't had them for a while, at least not when it comes to crypto, although I, like many, don't know what will be next, since crypto is affected by what's going on in the world, in general.

I guess it's better to focus on something else for a while, if possible, to reduce the worries.

Regarding family support, I often have heard, like you, the words "sell before you lose everything", or something similar. And yep, it bothered me. And yep, sometimes I reacted. Other times, I simply ignored what they were saying.

0.00009211 BEE

Hmmm... I could feel it in your voice that things are getting to you... Perhaps coupled with the uncertainty of nowadays, both in crypto and generally.

Yeah... It was more a pressure from the closest ones... and probably the "prolonged" bull, pardon, bear market... I thought I would be prepared for this cycle, but we can't predict these macro stuff that happened...

I guess it's better to focus on something else for a while, if possible, to reduce the worries.

That's a good approach... Create a distraction (diversion) to ourselves... πŸ˜ƒ

I try to understand my family (mostly my mum). They are scared. And there's a limit to what they understand from what's going on in the world right now. And in a way they are right, in a traditional sense. Crypto is considered "risk on".

Stay strong and safe!

Those days are make or break moments depending on the perspective we approach it. I think for me is mostly remembering that this too shall pass, so I tried to not get emotionally attached to bad/good moments or exaggerate them to the point that I lost myself in the process. Thinking long term or zooming out is also a great way to not get stuck in the noise of the changing everyday/weekly moments.

0.00009094 BEE

Those days are make or break moments depending on the perspective we approach it.

... and because they are to be or not to be days, it gives them additional importance... Nothing is the same after... πŸ™‚

You are not alone. Many people of Gen Y experienced it. I think that support and care from family from adolescence to adulthood in one's life is so important. If this was missed, then they have no right to criticize your decisions.

0.00009094 BEE

Many people of Gen Y experienced it.

It did start somewhere with that generation and forward... New professions are "born" regularly, and old ones are dying... It's very rare to stay dedicated to 1 thing for a whole life... On the other hand, maybe it's better like that, as it can be more challenging and motivating to do new things...
The problem is that we have to do multiple jobs at one time, which has been happening a lot lately... just to survive...

0.00000000 BEE

I think it's tough to just stick to one job. A lot of people are doing multiple different things, and I don't think its bad to be doing so many things. Be proud of what you did, and if you aren't, then make some changes so you are. I don't think its a waste at all because those experiences end up shaping who you become.

0.00009079 BEE

A lot of people are doing multiple different things, and I don't think its bad to be doing so many things.

It's not a bad thing at all! Learning new skills is useful and can be an additional motivator as it is challenging, sometimes inspiring... The issues arise when we have to do multiple jobs at the same time, which could "eat" all our free time and take us away from life, family, friends, and children...

0.00000000 BEE

I feel taking a break when demotivated, I do not want to drag myself in unhappy and demotivated situation because it make you further feel bad and more demotivated.

Sometime , try the new strategy for the same work will help.

And most important to be content and do comparision what changes for you in last 3 month by doing this work, if there is no impact then leave it.

0.00009071 BEE

I feel taking a break when demotivated, I do not want to drag myself in unhappy and demotivated situation because it make you further feel bad and more demotivated.

That's a good strategy... IF you "get in early"... πŸ˜ƒ If you realize that the shitstorm is coming, and to prevent it to become something much bigger...

And most important to be content and do comparision what changes for you in last 3 month by doing this work, if there is no impact then leave it.

Huh... I struggle with that a lot! As I'm stubborn, it takes a lot of time to make that decision... I mean, if something doesn't work, I try again and again... Too many times before quitting... That's my weak point...

Thanks for these "practical" suggestions!

I think the world is a lump of risk and everyone takes risks, just not as weird or strange as the mob. For me, I'm in that place in my life where I'm closing to failing because of the many ridiculous decisions I made in the past, but I hope the unconventional says I've choosen will pay off for me.

0.00009070 BEE

You are not the only one who made ridiculous decisions... we all did... many times...

I hope the unconventional says I've choosen will pay off for me.

It can be worse than what's happening to the rest of the people... It's funny, but it's true! So many shit is happening and many people are not even aware of it... You at least know that, and you realized it before others... πŸ˜‰ That gives you an advantage...

0.00000000 BEE

You at least know that, and you realized it before others... πŸ˜‰ That gives you an advantage...

TIME will tell if I realized on time. Would have been better if I realized it about 3 years ago, perhaps it could have been different today. But you've said it all. Many will probably not even realize their mistakes until it's too late for them. Thanks for the uplifting post again

"We told you!" You would like to scream like the guy

I suppose that everyone comes to a point like that... It's nice to be in control, calm, etc... but sooner or later, everyone has a tough time. The most important thing is how you handle it and thrive...

I'm glad that the post made you smile... πŸ˜€

Did I waste my time? Was this all worth it?

i think that's one of the most common thinking... and if the answer is no there is no rewind

motivation is needed, without you dont really even have a reason to wake up

0.00007571 BEE

Yeah, I agree. All that is great in theory... It is a good reminder when grey clouds come and we get demotivated... πŸ™‚

0.00000000 BEE

I always feel that nobody believes a word I write... Oh well... Nobody will be able to say I didn't try...

0.00007570 BEE

How was that saying... "barking up the wrong tree", or maybe that one not too much as "you are just in the wrong place at the wrong time."

I had that a lot... It's like when you try to onboard someone to HIVE, and the person who you talk to isn't ready for all that... It's just a waste of time for both parties...

It's better to change the audience, change the place, and go where your words are valued and appreciated...

Nobody will be able to say I didn't try...

hehehehe... You have a proof on the blockchain! πŸ˜ƒ

0.00000087 BEE

I like that you respond to replies... That's very rare...

Most of the people are watching you to fail so they can rejoice. Keep winning so they can watch forever.

0.00007569 BEE

Well, those people are not worth a second of our lives, that's for sure... It is a bit more difficult when they are part of the family, as it's hard to "exclude" them, but it can serve as an additional motivation... Exactly like you said... Keep winning!

0.00000000 BEE

absolutely, i think the whole point is never telling folks a plan until its accomplish people might feed the thought with negative result
