More training to come

So on Thursday and Friday, I'll be off calls once again. This time, I'll be undertaking a training to upskill within work.

I spoke with my team leader about the training and he indicated that I'll be seeing a small increase in my wage. Now while I'm happy about the increase in price, it's fascinating how much work one has to do to actually see an increase in salary.

I noticed that when you're at the bottom of the ladder, you don't have as much negotiating room. However, as you climb up the ladder, you'll then see your opportunities widen.

I've been doing a bit more work than most of my colleagues that started the same time with me because I now have training to handle other products. I've still not seen any increase in my salary right now but I'm told that after my probation, I'll see an increase in my wages.

Despite handling more products, I'm only going to see around £800 increase in my annual income. That only works out to around £60 increase in my monthly income. Then again, that may translate to a slight increase in my pension pot that the company accumulates for me.

Anyway, the point is that if I'm looking to see a significant increase in my salary within the next two years, I should be looking at the routes that I'm currently exploring. This recent "promotion" if you may, just solidifies my resolve to get more skills that can lead to an increase in salary.
