Today is officially my last day working as a manager in the insurance company I'd worked for almost three years.
As I clear the desk of my home office, I'm hit by an unprecedented wave of emotions. It feels like a never ending fever dream that's become my reality.
I got my foot into the door as a customer service agent and in just 8 months, I was already managing my first team. Thinking about it now, I was tasked with a massive responsibility quite early.
Just like everyone else, I have a lot of fears and worries. However, through experience I've learnt that bravery is not fearlessness but the act of taking action despite overwhelming fear.
I still remember the day the call came through. I was working my then customer service role at the bookies, feeling completely miserable because of the shit pay and the underwhelming work experience.
I received the call and was invited to an interview and just from the brief conversation, I could tell that this was the role for me. Luckily, the interviewer felt the same and well, Bob's your uncle.
Six months into living and adjusting to life in the UK, I started a hybrid working role in an insurance company and while we were still neck deep in debt and constantly being chased by the home office due to late payments, this job felt like the only thing good we had going for us as a family.
Fast forward 8 months and I earned a promotion to be a manager. With almost two years as a manager, I've had to quickly adapt to the demands of the corporate world and well, from end, all I have is gratitude.
I'm grateful for how this company took a chance on this guy and how the company molded me into a person that has had a positive impact on people's lives. Now its come to an end, so I have to look forward and see what becomes of the future.
I'm sorry you no longer have the position. 🙁
I'm sure you'll find something soon, and I'll be praying for you!
