Back to the grind

When my time off started, it felt like one week is a long time but here we are, starting the new week and I'm getting back to work today. It's fascinating how time flies when you're not working.

I spent majority of the time off sitting on my arse at home, spending time with my wife, playing videogames and catching up on anime. I have to say, it was totally worth it and yup, I enjoyed it.

I went out on the odd occasion with my friend that came to visit last weekend but that's as much going out I did. I find myself enjoying indoor activities more than I enjoy outdoor stuff because, well, it's much cheaper to just stay in doors.

Anyway, it's safe to say I'm not excited about going back to work but a man's got to do what a man's got to do. I'll have to dust off my laptop, wipe my headphones and get back on the grind.

The feeling I get from being employed is my constant reminder that I'm certainly going to switch to self employment at some point in the next few years. For now, it's just about grinding out capital through jobs and bettering myself.

Working for the man is tedious but there are some benefits that come from it. Some of them are the discipline and work ethic that comes from performing the same tasks, schedules and work experience that could be adapted to your own privately owned business.

It's been over a year in the UK and I still miss our simple life in Nigeria. The way I see it, for as long as reminisce fondly of the times we had in Nigeria, it means I'm still not where I want to be.

It is impossible to replicate a time in space because each period is unique but I intend to work with the available variables to simulate the emotions. The only way to get that back is to work at my own pace and push for a life where I don't have to work for the man.
