Beijing is so large and the distribution of the population is strictly maintained according to the municipal strategies. As a result you can find almost everything is quite planned.
The natual diversity is also insane in Beijing with around 50% of its total area is covered with forests. The interesting fact is that half of this portion of the forest land is completely human made forest that s a great experience.

Indeed, you can not make any construction anywhere without any permission; it is only possible in the village area where construction is allowed, in my observation. So, the whole municipality is seen as very clean and natural sites are protected from unwanted public activities.
