I think it's one role he really enjoyed and plus working with Mel Brooks. It must have been a lot of fun.
Dom DeLuise used to appear in a lot his movies, he was so funny! Brooks used to say that whenever Dom was part of the cast he added two weeks to the filming schedule just for laughter, because he was so funny.
