Hello music lovers and Hello hivers!
Tuesday for me on Hive means three tune tuesday...
It's Tuesday and of course that means it's inspiration time!!
I am late today with my ttt post as I got distracted with some research about online security.
A rival (sort of) website to ours was hacked via an email address and their facebook groups and accounts taken over. Not good when there is a paid subscription involved.
I digress, but please keep your security upto date online!
It is Tuesday and that of course means that it's #ttt or #threetunetuesday and so it's time to share some tunes with you!
@ablaze started #ttt 183 weeks ago! Go check out what it is all about on his last post Amble for Three Tune Tuesday - Week 183 - win 6 HBI
Do go support @ablaze as without him we would not have this mental fun musical activity that you can win HSBI from! I am happy to be one of the SIX sponsors and it is kinda fun checking out music from all over this global village of ours!
We don't watch TV anymore, Mrs T loves her YouTube and put on Netflix. So recently I saw they added the bizarre OCD ex detective Adrian MONK to Netflix. We used to watch it in Spain but missed episodes.
So we are watching now.
His first nurse / long suffering assistant was called Sharona and of course the song My Sharona from Ramones pops into our heads ....
But did you know it was a cover?
My question to Gemini my AI of choice...
Answer ....
It's partially a myth! The Ramones did do a cover of "My Sharona", but the original and most famous version was by the band The Knack in 1979.
The Ramones' version was released much later, in 1991, on their album Loco Live.
So, while it's true that the Ramones sang "My Sharona", they didn't originate the song.
First of all let's hear the original.....
My Sharona was the debut single by the Knack. The song was written by Berton Averre and Doug Fieger, and it was released in 1979 from their debut album, Get the Knack. It reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart.
Now when Doug Fieger was 25, he met 17-year-old Sharona Alperin. She would be his girlfreind for 4 years and it would inspire Fieger going on a 2 month long songwriting binge.
Fieger recounted that "It was like getting hit in the head with a baseball bat; I fell in love with her instantly
That was the original and I am sure we all recognise the lyric ...
My, my, my, I, yi, woo!
M-m-m-my Sharona
M-m-m-my Sharona
More of that in the third song...
A wild goosechase ensued...
I looked through the tunes on Loco Live and didn't see it... So have another female song from that album instead!
To me that is their most famous and mainstream song.
Now I alluded that the third tune today would be to do with the lyrics ....
M-m-m-my Sharona
and a fluffing classic from The Who....
I admit I listen to The Who more now, I guess I missed their originals.
But the lyrics .... did you hear ....
This is my generation
This is my generation, baby
My, my gen-generation
My, my, my, my, my generation
M m m m my Sharon my my my generation!
Similar?
Note: The three YouTube videos that I have shared are not owned by me, I am simply spreading great music on Hive.
I wish that you all have a brilliant rest of your week, and until we meet again enjoy your tunes πΆπ΅πΆ
