I've never been to Baltimore, either, but I spent part of a day in Annapolis and it was quite lovely. Not as big as Baltimore (a small city of 41,000 -vs- Baltimore's 585,000), but it's the state capital with lots of history and great seafood (Maryland Crab Cakes... yum!).
