RE: Exploring Downtown Manistee

Sounds like a nice find there at two slices, the sandwiches look awesome! I wouldn't mind one of those for lunch everyday! A lot of those old town have the building with the original hardwood floors, they last forever if well cared for and properly refinished from time to time. But they sure creak a lot...

A lot of those little town's businesses suffer with the big box stores not being too far away. Walmart is just much cheaper which empties out the old stores downtown. Now with Amazon delivery it's yet another nail in the coffin. Glad you guys had a chance to get out and explore, but a shame you don't have Jovi anymore.

Yeah, this small town actually has a Meijer which is like a Walmart and that is where I think a lot of traffic from the town goes outside of the tourists. We even went there a couple times for some quick things we needed. I still enjoyed the downtown area and the restaurants always have a few hidden gems. We definitely miss Jo a lot, but we enjoy the freedom too. It's a mixed bag.

Funny, I've never been to a Meijer. I guess I've never lived or stayed close to one in the past. Is it nicer the Wally World?
