If you paid attention to the title, it is probably pretty obvious why I picked the photo above. I've gotta tell you though, there is a deeper story to it. You might be looking at it and thinking what in the world does french fries (or chips) have to do with finance.
The honest answer is, they probably don't, but when I went into my personal photos from the past couple of decades that are store in Google Photos and I typed in the word "invest", this is one of the photos that came up.
Clearly Google has some work to do with their algorithm. Then again, maybe I am just not smart enough to figure out the connection between fries and investments. I guess it could be argued that fries are an investment in something delicious. I probably won't get much push back there. You certainly won't get any from me.
Call it misdirection if you want, but this is a game that is being played with all of us every day by the federal government, the regulators, and all the rich folks that have a vested interest in keeping the rest of us poor.
It is time again for another Finance Friday/Friday Finance. This is a series I started where I talk about random bits of financial stuff that I have seen, gathered, or experienced during the week. I hope as a reader you find it informational, entertaining, or both. I also hope it can generate some good discussion and edify the Leo community.
I've got a couple good stories for you today. Okay, maybe not good, but things I definitely found intersting.
The first is for those members of the #silvergoldstackers community that I am lucky enough to be a member of. I saw this article the other day talking about how Costco has started selling 1 oz gold bars. Apparently, they are in such high demand that they can't keep them on the shelves (cyber shelves).
I don't think you can actually purchase them in store, but according to the article they are available via their online store. Apparently there was such a run on them that they had to start limiting them to two bars per person.
It never ceases to amaze me the things you can buy at Costco. I remember when the first one opened in our area (right down the road from our house) a couple of years ago. They had a full barrel of Buffalo Trace Bourbon you could buy for $10,000. Needless to say I was tempted!
If you take the time to scroll down and read the comments, you will see quite a number of stackers have piped in and pointed out the ~$2000 cost of the bars at Costco really isn't that great of a deal.
Let's be honest, the comments are sometimes the best part of the article when it comes to Yahoo. In any event, it is interesting to see how precious metals are being marketed to the mass consumers and how many of them are actually taking the dive into stacking.
Of course the second piece of news ties into the title of this post and has to do with the hearing that took place on the 27th of our good buddy Gary Gensler. I found a really good article about it that you can read right here. I've gotta share one of the parts that stuck out the most to me.
At one point in the past, Gensler was arguing that the United States has the most "sophisticated and innovative" capital market in the world and for that reason it shouldn't be taken for granted because "even gold medalists must keep training".
My hats off to Andy Barr who latched onto that comment whenever it was first uttered and was able to come up with his own analogy to use during this hearing.
“With all due respect, Mr. Chairman, if the U.S. capital markets are a gold medalist, you are the Tonya Harding of securities regulations,”.
I don't care who you are, that's pure gold right there! I highly recommend you read the article, it's pretty funny how none of the people seem concerned about holding back against Gensler.
Make no mistake though, as inept as he may seem, he knows exactly what he is doing. Hence the misdirection I spoke of earlier. Many others have talked about it on Hive including @edicted for example. The powers that be are merely stalling until they have all their ducks in a row.
This isn't the whims of a moron or a madman, this is calculated and coordinated.
A close second for me on comments from legislators would be Ritchie Torres asking Gensler if Pokemon trading cards were securities. Like I said, absolute gold.
Finally, I know I have been hammering on this for the last couple of weeks, but I just want to remind you that in my opinion, DBOND isn't a token on Hive-Engine that you should be sleeping on. This investment "game" is brought to us by people with a relatively solid track record here on Hive.
Look at the success the EDS token and the BRO tokens have had over the past couple of years. Even through the bear they continue to hold a reasonable value. Well DBOND is based on EDS and brought to you by the same people behind EDS and BRO.
At a price of 1 Hive per token now is definitely the time to buy. There are less than 8000 left and once these are gone, we don't know when the next batch will be released. Sure you could wait, but then you would miss out on all the earnings that are happening between now and then.
Plus, they just announced the VIP program that is going to have a token associated with it. You better believe I will be buying one of those. Maybe even more than one (they have indicated you only need one). The 30 HBD price might be steep for some users, but I think it is going to pay off down the road. No doubt in my mind.
In case you aren't familiar, staking DBOND generates the DAB token. You can stake the DAB token to earn drips of DBOND, or keep it liquid to get drips of Hive. Right now though, the DAB token is selling for around 6 HIVE on the secondary market. Personally, I have been selling my DAB and using the profits to buy more DBOND. It's a way better deal while DBOND is still available at 1 Hive per token.
It won't always be like that, but right now I think it is the best way to maximize my earnings. Eventually, I will just start staking everything. If you want more info, just hop into the BRO Discord.
That's all I've got for you today. I hope you have an awesome weekend!
Anyone hungry for some fries now?
"Knee-capped!" what a hilarious analogy, a gold medal winning come back!
I thought so too!
Me gustan las papas fritas exactamente así ...
I'm already saving up those HBD's for that DAB VIP!
It's amazing that Costco can't keep enough gold bars in stock, everyone wants gold and silver right now! I think we all know the crash is coming soon...
Now a barrel of Buffalo Trace, I want one of those.....
I am too. I am trying to decide if I want to just buy one or maybe buy two of the tokens and then flip it later if demand goes up. Yeah, it sounds like a lot of the people that are buying the stuff from Costco are buying the hype and aren't very educated about stacking. Thank goodness I have our community to keep me from FOMO'ing. Buffalo Trace is good stuff and people gouge the bottles a ton, so it would actually be a good investment.
Im willing to actually pay more for gold from costco if it was made available here in our country. Whats difficult for me is shipping costs a lot and will not be cost efficient to my stacking goals.
That makes sense. I know the shipping costs are high here as well. At least depending on who you go through.
I think I made it in the first dbond presale, so I should be able to get VIP at 20 HBD. I will definitely be picking one up. More DBOND is also very tempting... I'm trying to reserve all HBD I make for powering-up, but... well, more dbond is tempting!
To be honest, I hadn't even been checking the price of DAB; I have just been staking it everyday. Your advice is excellent, though. I will start selling it to fund more DBOND.
I have something like 35 DAB staked and I only get a about .5 DBOND per day from that or less. If someone will buy my DAB at 5.5, I can make 15 Hive or so and then buy 15 DBOND while the sell wall is still up. Once that is gone, I will likely start staking DAB again. The problem is, you need to find someone to buy it. While it sits on the market in an open order, it isn't paying you DBOND or Hive. I bought a lot of my DBOND from funds that were from something else, so it hasn't impacted my growth too much.
Staking and saving are always very good solution on any blockchain with cryptocurrencies and in real life as well. I know from personal experience regarding the HBDs I managed to save. It is, indeed, well worth it in the long run and very profitable, undoubtedly. Thank you for this post! P.S.: That's a beautiful photograph of a tasty portion of French fries as well (with garlic sauce I presume and French herbs or just basil). I really mean it! All the best and plenty of success here on HIVE! 🙂
Yes, staking is very important and I am starting to feel like it is going to be one of the things that drives the next Bull market similar to DeFi and NFTs in the last one. Thanks, I can't even remember where those fries were from now.
You're most welcome! It doesn't matter that much where they were from, but they certainly were very tasty judging by the way they looked, heh. All the best!

These are not the droids 💵 💵 💵 you’re looking for…
(…while everybody wonders where the money all went.)
No doubt! It's almost like a complicated bait and switch.
The tactic is top notch
Nice one!
I love it...
Thanks!
Let me solve your riddle how much have you spent on fries in the last 10 years? Now multiply that wit all Americans.....got my point?
Loved the Gesler roast but it just got the muppet more pissed if you ask me.
Have a lovely weekend!
Yeah, I guess that could be it. Maybe buying fries is investing in an unhealthier version of you? They are so tasty though! Either that or Google is smoking crack. You have a great weekend too!
I meant investing in the potato industry because everybody loves fries!

I do love French Fries and different dips! Uptober hasn't started but looks ready for a break out already!! Im not sure about the DBOND and all that, it was too complicated for me so I skipped it. I still have some stacking FOMO though and think to add some Arbitum to my stack. Was researching it last night, maybe it will have some legs.
I don't know too much about that one. I hope it works out well for you. I think we should see some positive movement here soon. Maybe $40K by the end of the year? Fingers crossed anyway.
sounds good, the Halving is getting near!
