Fire and Water a #threetunetuesday post

If I had to pick the two things that I associate with camping the most, the first would probably be fire, and the second would be water. There is just something about those two things that fit so well together when you are on a camping trip.

I know that seems a bit out of bounds since more commonly those two elements are considered to be the opposite of each other. As you saw from my posts over the past few weeks though, there is something about sitting around a campfire on the shores of a lake that just can't be beat.

In fact, of all the places that we camp in Michigan, I can only think of one where we aren't within sight of a body of water. It's one of the perks of living in a state that is surrounded by the Great Lakes and has an abundance of inland lakes to choose from.

This weekend, @mrsbozz and I took our second camping trip of the season to Caseville, MI. I'll be writing a proper post about it probably tomorrow, but that camping trip and the theme of fire and water serves as an inspiration for this weeks #threetunetuesday post sponsored by @ablaze.

I think it's also a bit interesting that fire and water are also so closely associated with love. While I absolutely love camping, I also love sharing that time with my wife @mrsbozz. It's something that we have always enjoyed doing together and I hope we can continue to do it for many years to come.

There's something about a good duet that just gets me excited. If I had to pick my top five live duets, there is zero question that George Michael and Elton John's collaboration on Don't Let the Sun Go Down On Me sits in the number one spot. It's just that good. The fact that it was a surprise duet just adds to the awesomeness.

Note to self, I need to do a #threetunetuesday post on duets

The duet above with Luke Combs and Ed Sheeran would probably sit somewhere near the top of that list as well. Could you imagine being at this concert when suddenly Ed just comes strolling out on the stage? You can hear the reaction the crowd has.

"Dive" fits the water theme for this week really well. As I mentioned before, it's certainly about love, but passion for activities can be just as strong as passion for individuals as well. I think this song is just "poppy" enough too that it can appeal to even those folks out there who don't really care for country music.

I've had the chance to see Luke twice in concert and while he never sang this song, I can tell you he is a really great performer and the two shows I saw him in were fantastic!

I'd actually be a little shocked if I have never shared this song on TTT in the past. It's just that good of a groove and for this week it fits the fire theme perfectly. I can't really tell you any other song that Sanford Townsend Band ever performed or if this one even topped the charts, but it such a good jam.

"Smoke from a distant fire" is one of those songs that I forget about, then it comes on and I'm like "oh man, I love this song". Sure, it's about cheating, but you can't cheat unless you are in love. Plus, love isn't the theme this week, fire and water are, so this fits perfectly.

I'm curious if you have ever heard this song before. It's just such a good jam, it has some great instrumentation and I really like what they did with it lyrically. I also think the lead singers voice has a really cool tone. Throw in the fact that they have a sax in the band and you can't really beat it.

It looks like they only had a couple of albums between 1976 and 1979, so I am going to have to dig into Spotify and see if I can listen to a couple of them.

Finally, I probably could have went a lot of different directions when it comes to fire and water, but I immediately thought of this song by James Taylor. It kind of fits my mood recently too. I'm still reeling a bit from the loss of our dog in April. Jovi was our steadfast camping buddy and while she didn't camp as much with us in her later years, not having her with us these past couple of trips has been a bit empty.

"Fire and Rain" is a really great song about a wide variety of things. Oddly enough, it doesn't really have anything to do directly about love like the other two songs I picked do. According to NPR, the first verse is about a friend that committed suicide. The second is about James' addiction to heroin, and the last verse is about a couple of other things. Namely a mental hospital and a band James started called The Flying Machine.

So there you go. Those are my fire and water themed songs for the week! I hope you enjoy at least one of them. They are all really great songs.

Camping with loved ones is indeed special. Ed Sheeran's surprise duet was a delightful twist. I'm eager for your duet post. Elton John's stage presence is magnetic, isn't it?😍😍😍😍😍😍😍 Thanks for sharing this

Happy #TTT 🎸

starting off with a live version! I like it! I’ve usually stuck to studio tracks, I think next week I’ll with some live video. Cheers! 🍻

There are some songs that just sound better live. I'm not sure what it is.

So many songs, so little time to get through the many. Only recognized James Taylor, do enjoy the first and second selected especially Sanford and Townsend, sax included always a pleasant instrument to hear..

Yeah, they had a really great sound. It's too bad they didn't put more stuff out.

Guys were having fun back then, travel with a couple of shows, move on hitch up with other bands, a few sessions that sometimes only made one record, then gone again.

Nice that you go on camping your wife, it can't be more good than going to places with that one person we love and adore.
About Elton's John, he has this tone's that hook me up when he is performing on stage.

That was a surprise to hear Ed Sheeran on the first video, I was playing before reading your post so it caught me off guard too. Very nice duet and for a spontaneous one, pretty awesome, he really was great to hear. Looking forward to your duets post! Defo George and Elton are at the top for me. I wonder if there are any good Bowie duets too.

Well, Under Pressure would probably be the most iconic. I mean Mercury and Bowie... How can you top that?

0.00003118 BEE

Yeah , think that was the one I was thinking of. 💯

Three nice choices, hard to go wrong with any of the three! I miss camping out with a nice cozy fire, I'll have to fix that this summer at some point!

I wish you the best of luck with that. It's truly freeing!
