A Song That Hit Differently
I have found a few songs that speak deep to my heart lately and "after I'm gone" is one of them. The performer has a beautiful deep voice that can send vibrations down your spine the moment you press the play button plus lyrics that will send you into a reflective mode. All in all, this is a song I think everyone of us can relate with when it comes to our parents.
I have a great relationship with my Dad, when I think about him I don't know what I would do without his presence in my life. On hearing this song, I can't help but pause and think about our beautiful relationship and how lucky we are to have a father who knows exactly how to be a dad. We live in different states presently, we talk as often as we can and I'm currently planning a surprise visit home, soon. I simply can't wait, hehe.
I guarantee you, this song will make you home sick especially if your parents are still alive. It speaks to your heart and will make you pick your phone, just to hear your parents voice and tell them how much you love them. And if you are not in a great relationship with them, this might be the sign to start healing and amending your relationship while they are still here. Yes, some parents are hard to love but a parent should never go through the pain of wishing their kids would have a relationship with them.
After I'm gone
Is a song about a dad who has a strained relationship with his son. It explores the kid's behavior and how badly he wishes the son will at best walk through the door of his home.
If you are a dad, this song will make you reflect on your relationship with your kids, it tells the importance of showing up when it matters.
We live in a world where some dads think their role as a father is just paying the bills and providing a roof over their heads. If as a father you are not bonding with your kids, you are doing an incomplete job no matter how much cash you are bringing to the table. I think this is where some dad gets it wrong, the society tells them all the time that their job is to provide for the family without telling them often enough that providing for the family is just a part of the job. A great father is the one who can balance between providing for the family, bonding with the family and showing up when it requires.
Many families are falling apart today because the dad at home doesn't get this part of the job. And that is why I love this song very much. I hope people will listen, I hope that it will teach them what is required of them and their relationship will grow stronger and beautiful.
