At Backlash France on Peacock and WWE Network, professional wrestler Damian Priest defeated Jay Uso in a traditional man-on-man match to claim the World Heavyweight Championship.
This match was the third match of the WWE Premium Live event held in Lyon Metropolis, France. The crowd-pleasing main contestant attacked from the opening moments, taunting the champion several times. The priest is given space to dominate the fight and hit his opponent.
Once Jay recovered, JJ McDonagh reappeared to help his Doomsday partner. Priest expressed displeasure with the decision and nearly lost his heavyweight title over the distraction. After landing another shot, Finn Bálor emerged from the crowd and briefly distracted Uso, allowing his partner to take the South of the Skies.
A flurry of Superkicks and Spears almost gave the Samoan the victory, but JD put the champion's foot on the top rope to avoid defeat. Jey brought Spears into the ring and lost concentration until Priest neutralized him with a South of Heaven from the top rope for the three-count victory. The latter prevented his companions from attacking after the battle. In this way, Damian Priest kept the world of the WWE World Cup in the first official defense of him. The champion congratulations for 27 days after a typical victory in Titulania XL. Damian cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase by defeating the newly crowned Drew McIntyre and won his first world title in the company.
