As with every Christmas celebration comes the making of beautiful dresses especially for our children, it's been a stressful month for me as I get to work none stop making new beautiful dresses for ladies and little girls around me, their smiles after fitting their dresses is everything for me and the encouragement I need to keep pushing on and not give up on my passion. It was the 23rd of December after I had ticked on my list all the dresses I had to make for everyone around me, except for my daughters' dresses, it was two days to Christmas, and worst still, the Christmas carol service in the church was to hold on Sunday, which is the 24th of December, I had less than 24 hours to make my daughter's dress, I knew I could make it, and only had to work all night, the chosen theme/dress code is a touch of red, I already had the materials needed, from my last market visit, so I will be sharing with us the making process of my daughters beautiful Christmas dress.

Materials used

  • Ankara fabric

  • Zipper

  • Thread

  • Tulle

  • Satin Fabric

  • flower

Making Process

Step 1

I started by drafting the upper bodice of the dress, I plan to make it a simple sleeveless dress since I had less time, but I still wanted the dress to look very adorable.

Here is the front pattern with a round neck

Here I also drafted the back pattern with a deep V-back neckline

STEP 2

I joined and turned the front and back ankara pattern with its satin lining fabric to give it a neater finishing

STEP 3

For the lower part of the dress, I cut out a half flare, using the waist measurement as the radius of the flare

STEP 4

Determining the length I wanted for the dress, I cut out the time into four pieces of 5 yards

STEP 5

I gathered the tulle on the flare to form the ball side of the dress

STEP 6

Finally, I attached the lower tulle part to the upper side of the dress, attached the zipper, and also the flower applique on the front neckline.

Here is the beautiful final look, how my girls rocked their last-minute dress to the Christ Carol Service.

One of the many things I'm grateful for is being able to make my own dresses at an affordable rate and still look classy, and my talent is not limited to me alone, as I make
sure to everyone around me, glad I can make an impact in my own little way.

What do think of my daughters Christmas dress, beautiful, isn't it?
