How I made this bubu Kimono

Hello everyone, I welcome you to my blog again, I hope you find this resourceful.

The fabrics I worked with was African Print (Ankara) 2 yards and crepe plain material, black to be precise of 1 trouser (45 inches per 60 inches), you can work with Aso -Oke or denim material depending on what the customer wants. This crepe will be at the tip of the ankara fabric, the sleeve, the neck, and the down part,

I folded into 4 inches in a way that I wouldn't need to join the shoulder again. The front and the back I cut it together.

I deducted the 5 inches I will be using from the actual length, that is the person's top length is 36 I will minus 5 inches making 32 and the sleeve is 18, I will minus 5 making 13, but I added extra allowance because it is a bubu and I have to use the same measurements down and the biggest circumference is the hip, her hip is 4, I divided by 4 which is 10.25, so I made it 10 and 1/2 inch,I added extra 5 inches for the freeness now making 16 inches.

After cutting the sides, I chalked out the neck, the neck depth I used for the front was 8 inches while the back 1 inch because I am not joining the shoulder, then I used the wideness as 3 inches for both, I made the front to be in a form of V shape, then I cut it, and I slit it open. I cut all the crepe I will be needing which is 10 inches when folded into 2 becomes 5 inches.

I pinned it down to secure this material and prevent it from sliding I sew it by half of an inch, this was how I did it for all the down, sides and neck region, the width of the neck is 5 inches when folded becomes 2 and 1/2 inches, it won't be wide like the others and really long,I used iron to press it , then I fixed it.

I made sure I was done with fixing the crepe, before I cut the pocket, the pocket is 11 inches in length and 9 inches in width, I measured from shoulder to 17 inches which is waist and where I will be placing the pocket, I made sure it is in the middle of the Ankara fabric, 4 inches apart. To join the sides like the bubu I measured from shoulder to 11 inches that was where I stitched it down. Note that I didn't stitch to the 5 inches.
