Bayanihan in my Community As They Clean the Road

These past few months, our barangay held a clean-up drive for the community as it's one of the activity in the barangay. Everyone should join the said activity as possible as it's for the benefit of the community and to make the surroundings clean and green.

I'm very thankful because everyone agreed especially the officials who were in-charge to help in cleaning. But this was per sitio so we were tasked to clean the area our sitio belong to. Because it was during school days, mostly elders were there to clean and i'm one of the photographer for documentation but I also helped in the kitchen for the food. And talking about food, we were thankful because there's a budget for it. Luckily, the rain stopped at that time so the activity didn't postponed.

We started the activity at 8:00 o'clock in the morning. But first, we were gathered at one of the home of the official before heading to the area that needed cleaning. Because they didn't start it yet, I was assigned to prepare the things that can be cooked and after one hour, I went to take photos. Others were obliged to pick up garbages that were thrown away along the road and it must be recycled applying the 3Rs. And the rest pull out or cut off the weeds in the road that are need to pull out. I observed that they were quick in removing the grass.

I heard also that, they were going to suggest beautification in the road because during fiesta in our Municipality, there's a contest for this for clean and green barangay and our barangay doesn't get reward. So it's one of the activity that they are trying to make a decision. Well, it's a great idea especially for the youth. They should be involved in this activity. I guess, the SK Chairman also making programs in line to youth engagement. Going back, it was already 10 when we had our snack. I can't just hold my laugh when they just seat at the center of the road while having our snack 😄😄.

While having our snack, the elders were chitchatting about their children's attitude in school. I heard someone said, "his child needs to accompany before going to school and look after him when the class finished". He then continued that, if when his child wants hasn't meet, his child turned to be sulky. So when it happens, he just let the child throw his tantrums. But if theres a budget for that stuff, he will buy it. While listening to this, i come to realized that, there were still children who act like that . The other elder just advised him to be patience in his children as he is the backbone of the family.

After the conversation and snack done, they continued cleaning. It was when I'm going to help when one of the official call me to help in preparing the food. I don't have any picture in the food preparation as one of the staff in barangay hall took pictures too. When the food was done, they were finished in cleaning. So, we ate after that.

Seeing the surroundings clean, it's appealing to the eyes and make sense. I can really say that if there's unity, the work would done on time, and it makes the community progress. So, I'll end my blog here. Thanks for stopping by.
