Saturday on Hive of course means it's time to write about the good old amber nectar or Beer, except yesterday I was so busy going out for walks and taking umpteen pictures that by the time I realised I hadn't posted a beet post it was Sunday!
We have had sun, sun and more sun, at least in this East coast in Scotland April has been glorious!
So the last few days we have been out walking.
We are lucky as quite easily from my house I can walk to the sea and beach or the park and boat lake or the through the woods and onto Raith Lake where I took the picture above yesterday.
So this afternoon when I went to shop to get some bread for tomorrow morning, I felt the sun on my neck and thought Cider!
Yes, baby, the sun in the UK really makes for refreshing drinks, and a pint of cider with ice in the glass really takes some beating!
I remember as a kid getting bottles of Strongbow Cider from an off-license that didn't care we were only 13 🤣 It was the first alcohol I bought, albeit 5 years before the legal drinking age! Yeah I didn't give a fuck about things when I was 13 either 🤣.
As I matured I went from cider to lager to dark beers but every so often in the summer or on what seems hottish weather I will relish a pint of cider with ice in a pint glass!
You can see the ice...
Although some of the ice I thought was from outer space!
Meteorite... do you see the markings and angle, it looks like a meteorite shooting through the cider!
The problem with a good cider, at least to me. and I guess you could debate that that is not a problem either, is that it is so damn smooth and drinkable!
Getting back to Crompton, I had seen it in the beer cooler of the local shop many times in the cider section, but as I never fancied a cider I never bought any.
However, I was intrigued as it comes in a pint can, not a 500ml can, and as you know a pint is 568ml so a good ten % extra, but it isn't extra.
So yeah, a pint can ... that got my attention!!
Mind you a 500 ml can is just shrinkflation, and it pissses me off. Any excuse for them to screw you and they will do it!
There is two food shots today @asiaymalay as I never gave you one last week!
I made spicy chicken and chorizo burritos on Friday. The great thing is that when I cook I seem to feed the 5000 so always have leftovers!
Heating up leftovers is great, as I needed a refill of beer already!
Then it was time to dish this fiery chicken and chorizo up ...
Cheers to a fantastic community in Hive and a wonderful initiative! As I have a wonderful Sunday this post is also for #SublimeSunday inspired by @c0ff33a and #BeautifulSunday initiated by @ace108
I was looking through the beer community posts for this week and saw that @nancybriti1 had posted already .... but green .. really lol ... I need to find you blue instead!
I also need to invite someone else for this weeks invitation!
When I came back from the shop I had a raging thirst, and that's part of the reason that I did add the ice as I wanted it cold!
And cold it certainly was, and it was smooth.
Actually the one thing I find with ciders, maybe it is the fruit types other than traditional apple is that they can be a bit too sweet sometimes.
Crumptons was not too sweet and not to dry!
The best ... it was only £1.85 for a can! Decent value nowadays getting something under £2.
Now that in theory we are entering months with some warmer sun being spotted I shall have a few cans knocking around in the fridge for future consumption.
Crumpton Oaks is an English cider brand produced by Aston Manor Cider Mill in Stourport-on-Severn, Worcestershire. They highlight their use of apples from their orchard family in the Malvern Hills and over 40 years of cider-making experience.
The Universe has a habit of delivering and making you learn!
Mrs T and I are great fans of YouTube and don't watch TV as such anymore. During lockdown we started watching a lot of canal boat channels, and one of them we were watching on Friday.
They happened to be staying in a small town on the river Severn...
The name ... Stourport-on-Severn, they joked it sounded like the name of a city... but it is where this cider is produced.
I had never heard of it, but now after two mentions in two days I know where it is now!
This is what they say about their cider:
A medium cider with a 5.0% ABV. It's made by blending pressed bittersweet apples with dessert apple juice, resulting in a golden, crisp, and refreshing cider with a fruity apple flavour and a medium dry or semi-sweet taste profile.
BrewDog claims to be the "world's first carbon negative brewery," stating they remove more CO2 from the air than they emit.
Their tasting notes ...

Posting about a beer on a Saturday on the Beer Community ....
Cheers to Cider and cheers to Crumpton Oaks
It's a whole bunch of fun, so check out The #BeerSaturday Challenge - Week 406 from the one and only @detlev.
This #BeerSaturday week I would like to invite @coquicoin to share a beer from her getaway weekend in Venezuela 🍻

That sure looks refreshing, and at 5% not too weak. And if you're 13 you can buy it! I would have been a regular! lol Sounds like it hit the spot and was right on the sweet/sour scale. Not a brand in the US though!
The chicken chorizo burritos looked awesome. Then again I'm a huge chorizo fan, having lived along the Mexican border for some many years in Arizona I like my Mexican food spicy!
Glad to hear spring has finally arrived. That's pretty cool being that close to the water, do you have a boat you take out there?
Of course now they are much more strict about selling to under age drinkers etc. But where there's a will there's always a way!
It was surprisingly refreshing, I forgot just how much it was! Ah yes, you would know chorizo.
Spring lol, well it hasn't stopped raining since last night!!
When I saw the cover of the post I thought I'd tell you how you put ice in a beer? Why did you do that crime? Then I read that it was cider and I was calm. hahaha. In 2002 there was an oil strike in Venezuela and all the companies stopped, among them the beer companies and a friend I had in Colombia, he used to send me cases of cider. I never drank so much cider in my life!! hahaha. Now I try apple cider and it reminds me of 2002!!! A hug painted in blue, my friend
Haha, ice in beer to you, is like me seeing people put ice in whisky!
I remember my grandfather when he gave me my glass of whisky to celebrate New Year, he would never put ice or water in it. It was straight whisky I was only 9 🤣 My mother would slip an ice cube in it for me!
Edward, if whiskey was meant to have water in it, then God would have made it with water. Real men don't drink water was his lecture every New Year.
Did you really try a cider for me? Well 2002 and I will take that blue painted hug and give you one too Nancy :)
Jajaja. What a great story about your grandfather! Your grandfather was wise. Yours would give you whiskey, but if my grandmother knew that I drink beers, I think she would give me in the mouth or die again. hahaha. I tell you a sacrilege: in Venezuela they drink whiskey with coconut water, ice and stir it with their finger. We are profane! I send you a hug with ice and coconut.

It's good to know about Crumpton Oaks. This is a good promo you've made, my friend.
Best wishes !!!
And Cheers!!!
Yeah was a good cider, thank you and have a great week!
A wonderful week for you too. 🌻🙏🏻
That’s an enticing option to try, and the color resembles a pineapple. The food is excellent. Is that rice? It’s a wonderful combination of meat and rice. It's been a month since I have not drunk a beer.
Oh yes, good call about the colour resembling a pineapple, it really did! Hehe yes it was rice, I make it quite often, although that was fried rice from some white rice I made the day before.
Ah perhaps time you had a beer, maybe I should invite you.
exactly how i would enjoy my beer, two bottles always hit the spot, the name though is kinda weird 😂
Hehe weird , it actually sounds very English lol what about Orijin now that is weird!
No conozco esa sidra, pero al leer la publicación me ha provocado tomar una cerveza bien fría, vamos a ver cuándo será posible eso. Saludos.
Me parece una bebida refrescante bajo el sol! Espero que te hayas tomado una cerveza.
I thought there was no beer for that day 😁. I was waiting for it since Saturday😌😛. Food is fantastic. Save time if you cook more😌😌.
Hehe I nearly didn't give you your beer for the weekend Asia. I was struggling to post anything all week! This week is the same 😂
You've been curated by @amazingdrinks! Delegations welcome!
Interesting. Never heard of beer made with apple cider.
That fiery chicken thing looks good.
