It's Saturday which means it's #beersaturday,
And what a saturday it has been!
50 points to 49, what a fluffing game!
Back to today's post..

You know, I do love a beer from a glass bottle, well most things are better out of a glass bottle or jar to be honest!

This is what gemini captured ...
The modern concept of a "session" was actually born out of government restrictions during World War I:
The Law: To keep munitions workers sober and productive, the British government passed the Defence of the Realm Act (1915), which strictly limited pub opening hours to two "sessions" (typically 12:00β14:30 and 18:30β21:00).
The Beer: Because workers wanted to socialise but only had a few hours, brewers lowered the alcohol content. This allowed workers to have several pints during their break and still go back to the factory to safely handle heavy machinery (or artillery shells!).

Sneak peak of what the dinner was ...

I actually had this on Thursday after I got home from physio. I had received an email on the way home enabling me to get that pizza and some jalapeno bites.

Old Session Hen is a light refreshing British session ale brewed by Greene King.
Right enough you could have called it a lite beer!
Old Session Hen was a fairly recent launch (hitting shops around early 2024) from the Greene King Morland Brewery. Itβs essentially the "lighter, easy-going brother" of the classic Old Speckled Hen.
It has an alcohol by volume (ABV) of 3.4%.
The beer is described as having zesty tropical aromas and a gentle bitterness.

Session beers are so named because you can drink a session of them, ie a bucket load and nothing will happen.
They weren't sweet and a pleasant swig to wash the pizza down with!

Posting about a beer on a Saturday on the Beer Community ....
It's a whole bunch of fun, so check out The #BeerSaturday Challenge - Week 453 from the one and only @detlev.
This #BeerSaturday week I would like to invite @asiaymalay to share a beer with us..

Cheers! A light beer and a piece of pizza are the right solution for lunch! π»

Cheers Seck, it was a good light combination!
Sessions Hen beer, what a name.
I just hope all the hens over there are safe. π !LOLZ !BBH
It is a lighter version of Old Speckled Hen lol which was named after a car!
Oh, nice. π
Wait, why does it matter if it comes in a glass bottle or a can if you are just going to put it in a different glass anyway? I'm not fancy like that, I will drink straight out of the can or the bottle, whatever is handed to me! This looks pretty delicious though! The pizza looks good too!
Stays fresher in a bottle especially amber and maltier beers. It was a pleasant one and I know more your style than some of the others I had recently lol. Pizza was good too.
My goodness that beer looked good, but that pizza looked even better. Interesting little history about the Session. Made perfect sense about limiting the content of the beverages. Wouldn't want Johnny dropping an Arty shell in the factory.
Yes it was a good combination. I love learning new things and especially history. Johhny had to be soberish lol
Since it's a session beer maybe I can take two without getting drunk. Unfortunately no beer todayππ
Yes I think you would enjoy having a couple. It is on the list π
Good looking food and some nice beer to wash it down! Those pub hours are goofy but those old laws have a way of never changing even though munitions are no longer a factor! lol
Beer was a little weak on the ABV though, but it it tasted god that is what counts!
It was a pleasant beer and after the 7%ers I have had recently it was a nice change. Pizza was ok too especially as it was free π€£

Why do you like beer in a glass bottle? What is the difference compared to others? I thought beers in dark bottles were better. By the way, about the game, I send you a hug after that 2 to 4 in penalties.
No talk of the game, ruined my weekend.
Bottles keep amber and maltier beers fresher.
