Some memories of my first time in Santa Clara (eng-esp)

Hello friends Hivers! I'm ready to share old memories with you again on this #ThrowbackThursday. How about you guys? I hope you are feeling very well. For my part, I think Thursday is becoming my favorite day of the week 🤩.

On this occasion I want to share memories of my first (and so far only) visit to the city of Santa Clara. At that time I was part of the university choir Vox Lucis, and we had been invited to the choral music day "Santa Clara Sings".

I remember that on that occasion we left at dawn and as soon as we arrived there were only hours left for our presentation. That day we had missed the opening and the first activities, and we ran with luck to get to our concert on time.

The important thing is that the next day we don't waste a second of it. One of the things that interested me the most were the choral singing workshops, and that was the first thing we made sure to see.

One of the professors of the Chair of choral singing at the Higher Institute of Arts gave a keynote lecture. In it she talked about how our phonator apparatus functions physiologically and each of its processes when it comes to emitting sounds. Then, based on these physiological principles, he began to do exercises for a correct singing technique. It was wonderful! Since that day I feel that something changed in my voice.

On the way out, my friend Daniela and I started walking around the central area of Santa Clara. We were very struck by the structure of the Vidal Park and the buildings that are located around it. In Santiago, the concepts that exist about squares and parks do not compare at all with this.

We took the opportunity to cool off the sweltering heat of the season and bought popsicles with chocolate and peanut toppings. Among all the allergies I have, I'm thankful to be immune to peanuts 😂.

Even if I don't want to, it's impossible for me not to compare Santiago, my hometown, with Santa Clara. There is a peace there that I am not used to. There is not so much bustle, which was relaxing at times but also worrying for me. It is as if this other city walks more slowly, or rather, with greater serenity.

Anyway, I still feel that my Santiago is somehow cuter, but I would love to visit Santa Clara again. The days I was there, although they were few, managed to captivate me enough to want to return. I still have a lot to discover there.

¡Hola amigos Hivers! Yo ya estoy listo para compartirles, otra vez, viejos recuerdos en este #ThrowbackThursday. ¿Qué tal ustedes? Espero que se encuentren muy bien. Por mi parte, pienso que el jueves se está volviendo mi día favorito de la semana 🤩.

En esta ocasión les quiero compartir recuerdos de mi visita por primera (y hasta ahora única) vez a la ciudad de Santa Clara. En aquel entonces formaba parte del coro universitario Vox Lucis, y habíamos sido invitados al jornada de música coral "Santa Clara Canta".

Recuerdo que en esa ocasión salimos de madrugada y apenas llegamos solo faltaban horas para nuestra presentación. Ese día habíamos perdido la inauguración y las primeras actividades, y corrimos con la suerte para llegar a tiempo a nuestro concierto.

Lo importante es que el día siguiente no lo desperdiciamos ni un segundo. Una de las cosas que más me interesaban eran los talleres de canto coral, y eso fue lo primero que nos aseguramos de ver.

Una de las profesoras de la la cátedra de canto coral en el Instituto Superior de Artes impartió una conferencia magistral. En ella habló sobre cómo funcina fisiológicamente nuestro aparato fonador y cada uno de sus procesos a la hora de emitir sonidos. Luego, basándose en estos principios fisiológicos, comenzó a hacer ejercicios para una correcta técnica de canto. ¡Fue maravilloso! Desde ese día siento que algo cambió en mi voz.

A la salida mi amiga Daniela y yo comenzamos a pasear por la zona central de Santa Clara. Nos llamó mucho la atención la estructura del Parque Vidal y los edificios que se encuentran a su alrededor. En Santiago los conceptos que existen sobre las plazas y los parques no se comparan en lo absoluto con esto.

Aprovechamos para refrescar el calor sofocante de la estación y compramos paletas de helado con coberturas de chocolate y maní. Entre todas las alergias que tengo, agradezco ser inmune al maní 😂.

Aunque no lo quiera, me es imposible no comparar a Santiago, mi ciudad natal, con Santa Clara. Allí se respira una paz a la que no estoy acostumbrado. No hay tanto bullicio, lo que a veces era relajante pero también preocupante para mí. Es como si esta otra ciudad caminara más lento, o mejor dicho, con mayor serenidad.

De todas formas, sigo sintiendo que mi Santiago es, de alguna forma, más lindo, pero me encantaría volver a visitar Santa Clara. Los días que estuve allí, a pesar de que fueron pocos, lograron cautivarme lo suficiente como para querer regresar. Aún me queda mucho por descubrir allí.

Es probable que pronto regrese, así que tendré en un futuro nuevas memorias para contar. Espero que lo poco que comenté hoy haya sido suficiente y les haya gustado 😂. Todas las fotos utilizadas en este post son de mi propiedad. Nos encontraremos la semana próxima 😉.
