SCP-738 The pact with the devil

Source

SCP-738 is to be kept in three linked sealed chambers with armed guards and a remote detonation system at all times, as well as constant full audio/visual surveillance. Due to the variety and strength of observed interactions with SCP-738, and the unknown limits of SCP-738, the following procedures are to be strictly followed. When SCP-738 is not in use, its components must be kept one to each chamber. Mechanical means built into the containment area are to be used to assemble and disassemble SCP-738. All Class D personnel used to test the device must be mildly intellectually disabled or of comparably impaired cognitive function, and must be fitted with an explosive collar. This is in order to prevent them from learning too much about SCP-738 and possibly using SCP-738 in a way that is detrimental to the Foundation. Class D personnel with IQs over 60, and all other personnel are not allowed into the room containing SCP-738. Class D personnel are allowed into the room containing SCP-738 for experimentation only and are to be provided with continual instruction by research personnel

My love for SCP-738 began a long time ago when I saw a video by a French content creator on Garry’s Mod (

). It was truly funny to watch—entertaining enough that I kept pausing the video to imagine what I would do if I were one of the Class-D personnel sent in. Of course, that wouldn’t be possible, since I’m neither mildly intellectually disabled nor have impaired cognitive function (I hope).

There is only one SCP-738, but it is split into three entities: SCP-738-1 a desk SCP-738-2 a straight-backed chair and SCP-738-3 a stylized "throne." To get an idea of what it looks like, check the image.

When you sit on the chair (provided the throne and desk are also present), an entity will appear seated on the throne. The appearance of the entity depends on the person sitting. It is reported that the entity uses the desk to write with paper and a pen-and-ink set. Additionally, the entity moves during the session.

The entity will begin by making offers and promises, but the person sitting may instead make a request. Once a request is made, the entity stops making offers and proposes a price to fulfill the request. You are free to negotiate, but it is unlikely you’ll ever find a deal that is unfair to the entity.

If your request is for someone else, the entity will always refuse. If you ask for something you truly desire and are willing to pay the price, the request will be granted—but only as specifically requested. Nothing more.

Here are a few examples of what Class-D personnel have asked for—and the prices they paid:

Test 1: A Class-D asks for freedom. The price is the death of his best friend. He is teleported away, only to be recaptured five hours later.
Test 2: A Class-D asks for superhuman strength. The price is the loss of all memories of his mother. He gains the strength, kills 12 guards, and is then killed.
Test 3: A legal expert from the Foundation asks the entity for something (still unknown). He negotiates for a total of 41 hours before passing out. A note is found on him, reading: “I hadn’t had so much fun in a long time.”

What would you ask to SCP-738 and what price would be ready to pay ?

It might be one of the most powerful yet balanced SCP.
