We can develop a desired state of mind through repeated action and through the belief that we already possess it. This is the principle behind the familiar saying, “Fake it till you make it.”
Our character develops through the habits we practice. The more frequently we behave in a particular way, the more familiar that behavior becomes, until we begin responding that way without giving it much thought. What we repeatedly do eventually becomes part of who we are.
Believing that we already possess the desired state of mind encourages us to act accordingly. Each time we do, we reinforce that belief through experience, making it easier to continue practicing. With enough repetition, the state of mind can become a more lasting part of our character.
Realize you are. Be peace, be free of attachments and be untouched by virtues.
