My BusyBees & SlothlySavers Weekly Update - 2026 Week 39

The #SaturdaySavers programme run with huge dedication and commitment by @shanibeer came to an end with the close of 2025.

But there are a couple of initiatives to keep the motivation going !

I've decided to post them in the BusyBees Community. This is a community set up to support @zakludick's tireless work in encouraging and teaching newer Hive users. Additionally, I'm adding the #SlothlySavers tag and linking my updates in their weekly update post, because that's another place where former #SaturdaySavers are gravitating to.

How Did The Week Go ?

It was a wonderfully average week ! I made a couple of posts, did a bunch of curation, did a few comments... all kind of normal, no stress. Although I must admit I should probably have done a couple more posts. But with a couple of "real world" projects I wanted to get completed as well as the distraction of taking Duncan cat to the vets for a dental, I had quite a bit of non-Hive stuff going on.

Earnings at 135 HP were good, and very very slightly up on the week before. I think next week will likely be down ever so slightly.

One factor influencing earnings is the HIVE price, which continues to rise in line with other crypto's. Some of it is indirect, due to the change in exchange rate between the pound and dollar. Sterling has weakened quite a bit over the last fortnight, mainly due to the Fed increasing the interest rate in the States while the Bank of England has so far left the interest rate unchanged. The UK economy is still totally messed up, however, with major energy cost hikes and high bond yields reflecting an increasing risk of default at some point.

The increased HIVE price has the added benefit of dropping the Hive Debt further, down to 20.63%. From memory once it drops below 20% author rewards will revert to being an HP/HBD split, rather than the HIVE/HP split that is effective between 20% and 30%. It'll be nice to build my HBD stash back up again, although I can't see it getting back to the 2900-odd it peaked at any time soon.
