My BusyBees & SlothlySavers Weekly Update - 2026 Week 28

The #SaturdaySavers programme run with huge dedication and commitment by @shanibeer came to an end with the close of 2025.

But there are a couple of initiatives to keep the motivation going !

I've decided to post them in the BusyBees Community. This is a community set up to support @zakludick's tireless work in encouraging and teaching newer Hive users. Additionally, I'm adding the #SlothlySavers tag and linking my updates in their weekly update post, because that's another place where former #SaturdaySavers are gravitating to.

How Did The Week Go ?

We've had a real heatwave here in the UK for the last week or so, which has made doing anything at all exhausting ! So most of my Hive activity has been commenting and curating. I hate trying to write posts on a keyboard that's getting slimed in sweat 😁

But really, things seem to just be bumping along at the moment. Prices are mostly stable, but so is the Hive Debt percentage, which is something I'd like to see come down a bit.

Gold and silver are both dropping in price, but I suspect the prices for commodities are being highly manipulated right now. Western and third world governments are selling off parts of their gold reserve to service ever-increasing debt levels and stabilise currencies which would otherwise be falling. Meanwhile, I suspect central banks are waiting for prices to drop a little more before filling up on something that isn't US Dollars.

The elephant in the room in the 2008 crash that was never addressed was sovereign debt, but that's primarily because the US Dollar has been artificially propped up by being the reserve currency used for oil trading. When the threshold is crossed where more oil is traded in Yuan, Riyals and Rials than dollars, then the ever-increasing US debt will become something that cannot be ignored.

Hopefully before that happens, we can disconnect Hive from being valued in dollars ! I'd love to see HBD matched with a Bitcoin-pegged HBB or a gold-pegged HBG 😀
