My BusyBees & SlothlySavers Weekly Update - 2026 Week 27

The #SaturdaySavers programme run with huge dedication and commitment by @shanibeer came to an end with the close of 2025.

But there are a couple of initiatives to keep the motivation going !

I've decided to post them in the BusyBees Community. This is a community set up to support @zakludick's tireless work in encouraging and teaching newer Hive users. Additionally, I'm adding the #SlothlySavers tag and linking my updates in their weekly update post, because that's another place where former #SaturdaySavers are gravitating to.

How Did The Week Go ?

Probably the most important thing to be aware of is that I was really late with last week's update, so this one is more of a part-period catch up that only covers a few days rather than a whole week.

Actual earnings were only 18.91 HIVE & HP, but it was a 4-day period and the earnings period underlying it was a weekend where I was away re-enacting in a field in the middle of nowhere with very limited internet.

However, my actual HP has grown quite nicely, because Wednesday was HPUD and I powered up 1000 of my liquid HIVE into HP. It's still going to be a very long time before I become an Orca ! 😁

One thing I did spot is that the HBD interest rate has dropped a couple of points to 10%. That's half what it was for most of the time I've been here, but I'm okay with it. It's nice to earn good interest, but seeing the interest rate dropping shows me that people are becoming increasingly aware of the need to get Hive's inflation under control.

However I do still believe we need to get DHF grants reduced down to just the minimum necessary for bug fixing and security maintenance, at least until Hive is in a healthier trajectory.

Most of what the DHF gives money to really should be either repayable grants, or developed outside the DHF framework entirely. Hive itself is fee-free (or, more precisely, Resource Credit driven), but there's nothing to say that Dapps developed within it shouldn't deliver revenue to the creators. This could often be done in a low-friction way, by asking users to make HP or Tribe Token delegations rather than taking direct payments or micropayments.

That's all for now.... have a fabulous week, everyone ! 😀
