My BusyBees & SlothlySavers Weekly Update - 2026 Week 23

The #SaturdaySavers programme run with huge dedication and commitment by @shanibeer came to an end with the close of 2025.

But there are a couple of initiatives to keep the motivation going !

I've decided to post them in the BusyBees Community. This is a community set up to support @zakludick's tireless work in encouraging and teaching newer Hive users. Additionally, I'm adding the #SlothlySavers tag and linking my updates in their weekly update post, because that's another place where former #SaturdaySavers are gravitating to.

How Did The Week Go ?

I've been really bad for the last couple of weeks ! I missed the last two updates, first with a weekend away at one of the main Napoleonic re-enactment events of the year, and then with cleaning all the kit up and doing repairs, plus the inevitable catching up with work.

All of that non-Hive activity has sadly shown in my Hive earnings, but it is what it is. Thank goodness for automated curation ! But I'm still jumping on when I can, topping up the automatic curation with manual upvotes and comments.

In the meantime, Hive's price has followed the general dip in just about every crypto and most other classes of investment asset. Gold is down, Sterling is down, Silver is down, and crypto is down. Gold and silver are clearly manipulated, a mix of central banks trying to buy as much as they can at the lowest possible prices, while governments sell of their gold reserves in a desperate attempt to stabilise their countries and economies as oil prices and geopolitical risks continue to rise.

The only assets still rising are stocks and shares, which are increasingly feeling like a bubble just waiting to burst. I have a feeling the collapse will be led by AI firms, who are struggling under the weight of massive VC debt and data centre power costs with few tangible revenue streams.

I expect it'll be like the Dotcom bubble, a process of winnowing out the charlatans and over-greedy. At the end of it, we'll be left with just a couple of AI companies with decent business models (and possibly heavy covert government support in exchange for the data governments need to control increasingly discontented citizenry).

We live in interesting times !
