My BusyBees & SlothlySavers Weekly Update - 2026 Week 20

The #SaturdaySavers programme run with huge dedication and commitment by @shanibeer came to an end with the close of 2025.

But there are a couple of initiatives to keep the motivation going !

I've decided to post them in the BusyBees Community. This is a community set up to support @zakludick's tireless work in encouraging and teaching newer Hive users. Additionally, I'm adding the #SlothlySavers tag and linking my updates in their weekly update post, because that's another place where former #SaturdaySavers are gravitating to.

How Did The Week Go ?

I'm running a couple of days late posting my update this week - work and a couple of other real life things hit all at once and took all my attention away from Hive. But hopefully I'm getting back on an even keel again now....

In the meantime, I've been kept afloat by earnings on previous posts coming through plus automated curation. Lazy, I know, but it still earned me 128 mixed HIVE and HP !

Looking at the numbers, Hive had dipped down a little and lost most of the gains of the brief rally last week. I'm not too concerned; while I'd hoped it was an indicator of increased confidence, the reality is that pretty much every form of investment is taking a hit right now due to the global geopolitical and economic situation. I've seen the price of diesel here in the southern part of the UK go up from £1.51 to £2.19 in the space of 3 months. Admittedly my car much prefers the expensive premium diesel, it runs far better on it, gets better MPG and it burns cleaner so less likely to cost me thousands in replacing a clogged DPF.

I'm hopeful that in the next month or so, the US and Iran will hammer out some kind of proper peace agreement, or will give up on the farce of a ceasefire that neither side is fully honouring and go at it hammer and tongs until a firm winner is clear. Either method will work to clear up that particular round of geopolitical uncertainty ! Slightly perversely, I hope the US comes away with enough of a bloody nose that Trump gives up his designs on Cuba and Greenland. There are always better solutions than bullying and warfare !

In the meantime, the best thing we can do as Hivers is carry on posting great content, upvoting and supporting each other, and supporting the people working hard to develop new apps and dapps for us.
