When you are craving for something to eat, for sure you will find ways to have it. I am craving for young bamboo shoots since last week until Saturday evening. On the next day, Sunday, I went to the market and buy the ingredients for bamboo shoots.
I told my husband that I bought young bamboo shoots and other ingredients so we can cook what I am craving for. My husband is good in cooking than me so he will be the main in-charge to cook it.
We cook it very early in the morning yesterday (Monday). I helped him preparing the ingredients but he is really the one who is cooking.
So, without further ado, Let's cook young bamboo shoots with coconut milk.
Young bamboo shoots (sliced thinly)
Squash (one slice)
Ladies finger (6 pieces)
Saluyot (one handfull)
Sweet corn (one cob)
Onion (one small size)
Ginger (one small size)
Bell pepper- (two medium size)
Salt to taste
Water
Coconut milk (one mature coconut)
Step 1. Since I bought a young bamboo shoots who had been already sliced, all we need to do is to let it boil with water to remove a bitter taste. If in case you get it fresh from your farm you need to slice it very thinly, wash it and let it boil with water under cooked.
Step 2. While we are boiling the young bamboo shoots, my husband grate the coconut while me is preparing the other vegetable ingredients like squash, ladies finger (okra in our local language), sweet corn and the spices like onions and bell pepper. I sliced the vegetables according to the desired sizes and shapes.
My husband get the first as the pure coconut milk and get another coconut milk for the second time around by putting some water in it. He will use the second coconut milk as water.
Step 3. When the young bamboo shoots are now tender, remove the excess water and put the second coconut milk in the pot.
Add the onions, garlic (not in the picture) and bell paper. Add salt to taste. Let it boil.
Step 4. Add the squash and sweet corn and let it boil, then add the ladies finger. Let it boil until the vegetables are tender.
Step 4. Add the pure coconut milk, followed by the saluyot leaves. Let it boil and your Young bamboo shoots with coconut milk is now ready.
It looks so delicious that even just by looking at it, it will let you have a watery mouth.
I am so happy having it and I ate a lot until I felt so full and at last CRAVINGS SATISFIED! I also thank my husband for satisfying my cravings by cooking it.
There are really times that we wanted to eat something. If it is affordable or if we can cook it, we will really find time to buy and cook it. After having what we crave for, we felt so happy and satisfied. Do you feel the same?
What are your cravings right now?
Wow.. Ang sarap nto sis. Nakakamiss kumain mga ganitong foods
Ou sis kahit andito Ako paminsan Minsan lang din makaluto kaya cravings satisfied talaga.
Love the fact that you and your husband are cooking together, this is the first time I am hearing a woman admit that her husband cooks better than her, if not we ladies don't like accepting it😂
Oh I really admit it because I am not really good in cooking and worst I don't know how to cook especially viands lol. My husband knows it so when it comes cooking viands he is the in charge and he will never leave it to me or else it it will turn out wrong lol.
Thanks for reading my post @queenkong
Oh! Now I wish I really have a taste of the viands prepared by your husband... though it's my first even hearing such a name but I am a food explorer😂
New recipe! Nice! Never ko pa natry to with kalabasa and corn, usually gata lang at walang ibang halo, thanks for sharing!

This dish looks so fresh and comforting. I always forget to use bamboo shoots. I do like them but the idea with the coconut is inspiring. Thanks for sharing.😊
You can try it sis.
I like the combination here because coconut milk and ginger together are always a refreshing tangy kind of taste which I enjoy:)
Yes ginger really brings a soothing taste. Have you tasted this kind of recipe sis @millycf1976? Or have you tried cooking this?
You got good husband who can cook for you and who is in charge of cooking. Cravings are also here in my heart to eat this. But how to satisfy my cravings? I think I should go out and try something.
Try to cook and satisfy your cravings.
