Book review: Hidden in the snow by Rebecca Sten

I hadn't been reading a lot after the Christmas holidays. The last book I finished was about a month ago about AI. And it had been quite a while since I've read a thriller too.
But a week ago, when driving home from my holiday destination in the snow in Austria I decided to download a new book. Inspired by the snowy conditions I decided to go for Hidden in the snow by Rebecca Sten. I haven't read any other books from her, but the reviews were good. She already released another book in this series too. I will let you know if I am going to read that one as well.

Summary

The story starts as police officer Hanna Ahlander gets fired from her job in Stockholm. After she also was evicted from her house she didn't know what to do. After she called her sister, Hanna was offered to stay in her lodge in the Swedish ski resort ร…re to get some rest for a while.
Shortly after her arrival, Hanna reads the news about a teenage girl that had disappeared. Hanna got interested in the case and joins the rescue team to try and find her. As it can be very cold in Sweden in winter they are destined to find the girl before she freezes to death. Due to the search for the girl, many more wrongdoings come to light, and Hanna becomes involved in the investigation into the disappearance.
Whether they find the girl in time you and the one responsable for her disppearing, you really have to read the book yourself.

My opinion

It took me just a week to finish this book. From the start of the book I was dragged into the story and wanted to continue reading. The fact that it only took me a week to finish the book tells enough. I couldn't put this book away easily. The author did a great job of building up the tension. The setting itself; a harsh, isolated ski resort in winter with freezing temperatures and heavy snowfall really adds to the tension. The author describes this all very nicely.
If you're into Scandinavian thrillers as well, this is definitely worth a read.
I've really enjoyed the book and I've also already downloaded the second book in this series starring Hanna Ahlander; Hidden in the shadow.
I'll probably start this book soon ๐Ÿ˜Š

Happy reading!
